I'm trying to recall what the VIP/PTS story was for the 911R ... which would be a reasonable indicator...
The people I know that are VIP customers are all approved. Others haven’t given me an update like Graham Rahal, but is there any doubt with his order? Let’s see Dealer, 918 VIP, Celeb- yeah, I’m sure his order is moving forward, LOL!

doesn't surprise me at all, that's what I would expect!
no indicator at all of NRIP (Not Remotely Important Persons) allocation chances

That is different than what happened with the R, no? It is my understanding only about half of the VIP R cars that requested PTS got approved.

I recall hearing some rumor to that effect... although I believe there were "a lot" of PTS R's approved and produced at the end
of the production cycle?
911R vs .2 991 gt3 '918 Spyder Circle' PTS Experience!

That is a very good & interesting question.
I only have one reference data point...and
that is the US dealer that I sold my .1 991
gt3 (PTS). I asked them if they had any
'approved' PTS .2 991 gt3 at their dealership
& they told me that two of their numerous
918 VIP customers (they sold an unusual #
of 918 for a relative 'small' dealership) had
requested PTS & both had been approved.
And they read to me the relevant 200+ V
status of each!
My assumption is that all US 918 VIP folks
that requested a PTS .2 991 gt3 via the
preferred program (first right of refusal/
'918 Spyder Circle' program - see example
of an invitation email below for the 981
Spyder) in the allocated time frame given
by PCNA to decide were allowed to order
PTS! And they are not in v180 'limbo' &
are fully V200+ in their status!

I don't think there is any way to take the
the experience of the '918 Spyder Circle'
in the 911R and learn anything related to
how PAG/PCNA has decided to handle PTS
requests by '918 Spyder Circle' members
for the .2 991 gt3. In the case of the 911R,
nearly all folks given an allocation for the
911R in the US were indeed '918 Spyder
Circle' members. The noticeable exceptions
were C.J. Wilson, Suitcase & perhaps a few
others hand-picked by PCNA. As most of
you know, very few PTS were allowed in
the total run of 991 911Rs. We have
heard figures of between 50 & 100 for
total PTS in that run. And most '918 Spyder
Circle' members in the US that ordered
a 911R were denied PTS if they requested
it due to the limited availability. My
neighbor in Scottsdale is such a case!
The situation is now different for the .2
991 gt3 & the '918 Spyder Circle' members
in the US. Seems like David Donohue
was able to get special allocations for
PTS on the .2 991 gt3 for all, or most,
of the '918 Spyder Circle' members that
requested it. Furthermore, they have
been apparently been told to keep quiet
about their PTS approvals...and that is
the reason we have not heard much
about these from the normally very
vocal & assertive '918 VIP' crowd that
let's you know, often & loudly, that they
are pretty special & coddled by PAG &
PCNA!
I would like to see other '918 Spyder
Circle' members here on Rennlist tell
us what they know about PTS requests
on their .2 991 gt3 or their 918 VIP
friends' orders, assuming they are
allowed to 'talk'!

Interesting. I wonder if the "silence" request imply the V180 club members, myself included, are going to be handled quite differently?? Perhaps that is PAG/PCNA's way of making up to the VIP members (showing them they all get their requests, contrary to "normal" customers) since the R PTS snafu??

The 918 owner that I know had his PTS .2gt3 request approved back in Aug. With us mortals, it'll probably be the flip of a coin who gets it and who doesn't. And I thought the wait times at the DMW were long...this is like Chinese water torture.

Appreciate all you do for the PTS and LTS threads here. That said, I don't feel any particular need to jump through your hoop and provide you satisfactory evidence of my status. I relay here what the dealer relays to me. I'll tell you what, assuming a PTS car shows up and has my name on it, I'll post a pic. That can be your evidence.

FYI; ED is temporarily suspended per PCNA, if you have requested ED but have no assigned date (like me) you *should* be ok (April 2018 build) ED will reopen "soon"...
