I totally agree with you but would move that date to 2007+. For the past 13 years they have been extremely reliable. Hell, even more reliable then the 991.1 gt3.
Agree, range rovers get a bad rap. Unfairly so. 2007 on have been very solid machines.
I have the svr and love it. It’s very very different than the standard sport model. I like it much more than my wife’s cayenne s which is brand new too

I have had 4 . My first 2002 as I recall..first year with BMW power was an unmitigated disaster...BUT, the 2008, 2014 and now 2019 have been brilliant. The 2014 -2019 swap was the first time I ever ordered an identical vehicle back to back. Will likely do the same in 2022 if I haven’t now hexed myself...😳
Wife's lease is up on her Mercedes SUV and have been looking at the X5, Range Rover Sport ect.
Looks like leaning towards the Audi Q8.
If anyone has one would be interested in your thoughts
In my experience with two RR Sports...2017 and 2020...the poor reputation is well deserved. Intermittent infotainment blackouts on both the 2017 and 2020 ("they all do that" per the SA), mysterious coolant disappearance on both the 2017 and 2020 ("they all do that" per the SA), significant loosening of the structure over very little time, random electrical issues...IMO they just don't feel well developed or well built. Not to mention difficulty getting a service appointment...the dealers are always backed up because, well, these things fall apart. Neither has left us stranded, though (knocking on wood).
That said, they still look good, are packaged well, and drive very nicely...especially the 2020...even though identical in spec, refinement is way up over our 2017. Both of them diesels, which we love for the 445 lb-ft of torque and 500+ mile range...and is why we put up with the negatives.
