Well the wife wanted a new vehicle....she was driving a RR Sport SVR. She wanted something smaller
I had a hard time deciding for her.
she tried a Golf R and loved it.
I picked the color “viper green metallic”
LOL!! It's been a rough start, but on engine #2 now and starting to enjoy the car. Ford kicked in a 125000 mile warranty for 8 years, plus my expenses. So more than fair and as long as it holds together I'm hopeful it's a long term keeper.
Never had a RR, but I've heard many stories like this. I suppose this is the exception and not the rule, but I haven't been able to bring myself to drop 100k on a DD that might spend more time at the dealer than my garage.
I’ve had five over the past 15yrs as daily’s with zero issue, never have I been left stranded. The most recent is a $165k 2019 bespoke SVR, 17k miles in the past 13mo without a single issue. (Also still have my 2007 L322 Supercharged with 90k miles and running strong, never an issue outside of routine maintenance).
I've had many rovers for many years and there certainly are loads of quirks and electrical gremlins but in my experience free of things like catastrophic engine failures, diff/trans issues and the like. They really drive like nothing else so I always seem to have one in the garage.
Range Rover owner, engine currently being replaced. Stay away.
everywhere in the world they are known along with other british cars to be terribly engineered from a reliability standpoint
Maybe prior to 2013. But, this is not accurate from 2013 on. I've had 14+ range rovers over the years and never had any significant issues whatsoever. Heck of a lot more reliable than any of the domestic suv's I've tried temporarily (tahoes, expeditions, grand cherokees etc). Range rover is all my wife will drive. She has never had a single issue.

I totally agree with you but would move that date to 2007+. For the past 13 years they have been extremely reliable. Hell, even more reliable then the 991.1 gt3.
Wife's lease is up on her Mercedes SUV and have been looking at the X5, Range Rover Sport ect.
Looks like leaning towards the Audi Q8.
If anyone has one would be interested in your thoughts
Check out the brand new GLS or GLE (depending on your size needs). Picked on up recently (GLS450) and absolutely love the car. The tech is light years in difference between the previous model and the new one.
I've had a 16 full size range and now the SVR. Love it. Honestly Land Rovers have a bad rap, they are great cars, they somehow find the perfect balance between luxury and sport.
I had more problems with my Macan Turbo which needed a new tranny, and 991.2 C2S. And even the GT3s and the lift system and what not. Still love my P cars but overall my range rovers have problem more reliable than my P Cars
Jimmy unless you've had an Audi, you have to try it first. The steering for some reason in every Audi is so freaking soft and loose.
