Picked up my new daily a few days ago - an RS from another mother

Loving it thus far, though the gearbox is lethargic after being spoiled by Porsche's DSG. This week it'll get lowered and black 21s instead of the 22s. Will also add bike rack, swaybars, pads and exhaust shortly and then it'll be dialled in.

Still rocking the manual f80. Want to try something new though. If I get the fellowship I want I'll dump it and lease a new 86. If not... then I'll stick with primary care and go with an lc500. Never selling the gt3.

Speaking as a previous F80 owner who had an overall positive experience but wasn't over the moon about the car, it looks like a work of art in retrospect to the one just released. I think I'm more fond of them now than the day I took delivery of mine.

yeah its hard to find fault with the car. with a stage 1 tune you have similar power and weight as a 997.2 turbo... and can seat 4 people comfortably. its arguably one of the best looking M3s ever, maybe only second to the E46

it just lacks some of that emotional connection. motor doesn't sound good. boost is spikey. steering, although direct, is somewhat vague in feedback. stock suspension isn't the best at soaking up bumps. and you really have to be hauling *** to make it come alive like the GT3... but at least with the 911 you can half throttle it to 5-7k and enjoy the flat 6 howl.

I'm on my 3rd F82 and share your sentiments regarding them versus the new model.

Yep. Only kept mine 6 months. Really disappointed with the F80. Loved my E46 (and E30).

You need to drive the F80 CS, it's that good. They dialed in everything. Sound, handling, steering and turn/in, and most importantly the power and torque delivery. It's also noticeably faster than the comp. Right now the CS is arguably the best value proposition on the market today (~$75-80k for a german 500+ HP (crank) saloon that's still a modest heft ~3,600 lbs and has timeless perfect looks). I think it's overlooked because people think it's an overpriced parts bin farewell, but it really is an entirely different and vastly better driving experience over even the F80 comp.
