I think its totally fair to say that the "special" factor of a 675 vs a tuned 12C carries no weight with you. I think it's also reasonable to assume that for many, the special factor of the 675 (outside of any performance & aesthetic advantage CJ already outlined), is a very real thing that cant be replicated with after market upgrades.
100% agreed the car is special and collectible. No argument there.
What I was trying to say was the 675 started life as a 12C chassis with lots of go fast bits. It's kind of like Porsche using the same tub from the 1960s to the 1990s but changing the body parts and upgrading the systems. For better or worse, the 12C underpinnings are what McLaren used to make the 12C, 650 and 675. They share a whole heap of common parts.
To many, the 675 is MORE than the sum of its parts. I get that.
To ME, I feel like I am awful close to the street performance of that car already and the premium is not worth it.
It's just an opinion.
Oh, and I manufacture aftermarket parts so yeah, I can absolutely make them better than the original. Right now we are working on 12C / 570/ 720 heads and some other stuff.

I think you should just go buy the car already. Put your money where your mouth is, and see if it's worth it to you. 675 looks like a great car but they are going nowhere on the market. Same grey one was for sale 1 year ago when I bought my 12C still for sale. You'll have lots more time to decide :-)

Do it and report back! Was looking at a 600lt but hard to pull the trigger when the 675lt is in the same price range. I think the 675lt design is aging really well, that car is going to look good for a long time and I don't see any mfr improving on that hydraulic steering and cf chassis combo in any numbers.

Catorce has a point imo. Not many people have driven a 12c or even 650 with bucket seats and on trofeos that the 675 has as standard and those make a considerable difference ime. The dna behind the 675 is still the 12c, it's the P11R after the P11s after all even if the various changes and different calibration have added up to make the 675 a really bloody good car. It's better, much better even and far more 'alive' at normal-ish speeds than the 650/12c but the difference isn't as much as some are making out. It's probably more than the RS to gt3 but it's in no way a c2s to RS for example.

The big differences on the 12C and 650 from the 675:
Brakes
Steering
Suspension
Ride height
Cool P1 seats
No sound insulation
Shoots fire
Noise
Build quality (this is before they hired the second or third shift that started with 570's)
Carbon bits
Visual appearance/ design
Sure the speed is all fast, and you can tune it. But you cannot make it the same.
You could buy a 125k car, spend 50k on it, and NOT have the handling or steering or visual dynamic. You'd have a faster 12C

The 675 is a weekend toy that raises the hair on your neck each and every time you take it out. It just gives you that feeling, like being able to lose your virginity every time you drive it.

Let's not get carried away. Plenty of people have traded away from a 675 LT to a 720s and didn't look back.
Just about every 720s owner bypassed a 675 and got a 720s instead.
Both great cars for sure but not many would be in agreement with your statement. (Track focused cars are generally darlings of car forums).
