MA Carbon is probably the best after-market permanent solution.

But cost-effective, it is not. At least not for this working stiff.

Will they re-stitch a stripe into your existing wheel or do you have to buy a new one? The latter is too expensive just to have a striped wheel and the former probably means you're without your car for an extended period. I guess that's why I haven't been sufficiently motivated to look into this further....

^^It helps give a quick visual reference for the wheel position....especially for neutral/straight ahead.

I think the strip is a great looking contrast on a standard leather or alcantara wheel, but overkill if you opted for the deviated red stitching.

Absolutely. It is also helpful during video review of your track day where you can see very quickly just how much you turned the wheel at certain points on the track and whether you made certain steering adjustments that you weren't even aware of at the time. I'm oversimplifying, but the aim is usually to move the wheel as little as possible.

No activation is need for 1080 wrap material.

I had the gaffers tape on my leather wheel and I did not think it looked cheap. I think it all has to do with how meticulous you are with cutting the piece and install. And I am not advertising the tape but I think it is a very cheap way to achieve what you are looking for that can be reversed in a few seconds

Agreed. I find it very useful for my in car smartycam HD footage reviews....

Thanks, not familiar with this product. How does it stay in place then?

Do you have a pic of it in place?

Maybe the installations of tape on some of the cars I've seen were done poorly; would have liked to have seen yours, Jimmy. A poster above also mentioned a problem he had with melting tape adhesive in a hot car interior. I assume you never had a problem with that.

None. But I live in Chicago. Nothing melts here from the sun. Not even ice cream

DIY red gaffer table. Looks even more factory now as with age and handling has bedded into the grooves the factory left for the stitching there and the tape is fabric so it actually looks like it's been stitched in for real. That picture was taken when the tape was just put on Mike. I'll get another shot when the car is back so we can see what 6000 miles wear over 18 months and 10 track days looks like ....
