One wrap seemed adequate and made it easier to tuck the edges of the tape into the seam. I used a sharp edged plastic upholstery trim tool to do that but honestly a fingernail would probably work pretty well.

It would look more professional if one didn't have to cover the stitching but there's really no way around that. I'll live with this for a while, or at least until the 3M 1080 vinyl trim sample that awew911 suggested shows up and then I may play with that. But for now, this is a pretty decent $10 mod.
Looks pretty darned good, Mike!

Is it possible for some one to post a close up pic of a factory 12 o'clock marker similar to how Mike showed us. Would like to see the comparison of the stitching as what Mike referred to.

Very nice Mike.

I, too, like you ordered the 3M tape just for comparison.

Thanks guys! The great looking examples that others posted convinced me to change my mind about how this could turn out if done with reasonable care. This turned out to be a really helpful thread.

I can't find my pics of what I drove the GT3 RS in Atlanta in December, but I can assure you it does not look half as good as Mike's does in the pictures. I remember thinking how the yellow I'll contact did not pop very much, and the color kind of washed out. I wouldn't have expected Mike to do anything less than a perfect job bud can't wait to get my little sample of tape and see what it looks like in person

CXX=Porsche Exclusive, right?

At that price I'll stay with my funky little tape job!

It has an adhesive on the back. They use this material to wrap entire cars. Heat with hair dryer to stretch around complex shapes.

Daniel, correct me if I'm wrong but did you not special order your 12 o'clock wheel marker from CXX but had to jump through hoops to get it done? If you did, do you have a close up pic of it? Can't remember if your wheel is leather or alcantara?

^That's right, good memory bronson7!! I did order mine in alcantara from the factory as a CXX option. It was custom made in the Custom Tailoring area. They had to take the wheel apart and resew it apparently! (this is unlike the RS and GT4 where they're available standard) The marker is a bit wider than the standard ones, probably because it was custom made. The most detailed description from the factory, as emailed to me, was: "Sport Design steering wheel Alcantara black, Platinum Grey stitching, 12-clock-mark yellow, $4,960 CAD MSRP, 10 days." As I was the first (and perhaps only person insane enough) to do so, at least in yellow (evidently M. Mueller has one in red), it took several months for testing and approval. Here is a close up photo.

Thank you Daniel. The close up clearly shows the stitching over the yellow marker. Awesome.
