Default Caveat...

Below is a repost of an exchange I had last night
with a Rennlister friend (Lapis) at another thread
in our forum. It explains one more time why I am
concerned about how Porsche seems to be handling
PTS requests in the .2 991 gt3.

The purpose of this entire thread is to discuss all
aspects of the PTS option & I think these concerns
at least merit being mentioned in our forums. I do
hope (& pray) that everyone that thinks he/she got
PTS on this round (& are presently at V180) indeed
achieves it in the end. But as Greenspan used to say,
there is just a hint of "irrational exuberance" in the
air which hopefully does not come back to haunt us!

relates to shifting around buyers' production

I am sorry, Lapis, but Porsche's handling of
PTS on the .2 991 gt3 deserves a lot of
criticism...and it might get much worse soon!
I am hoping this scenario turns out to be
false & you, Montoya & all the others that
requested PTS get to the Land of OZ, but...

The paragraph above, Lapis, captures exactly what
MIGHT be wrong with how Porsche is handling this
entire PTS process! To try to prove my point, let me
repeat your original comment in 'blue' & next to it see
my reaction in 'red':

"for example, I got the (happy) call/email July 28
that's my PTS request was approved/confirmed.
"

Many of us don't believe your PTS is approved or confirmed.
None might be! According to reports, PCNA has filed PTS
requests for ALL the customers with .2 991 gt3 allocations
in the Fall of 2017. No PTS request has been denied to date,
which is in itself suspicious. And reports are that PAG now
has to decide how many PTS slots to allocate among all that
asked for it.

"At that time, there was no hint of any price increase."

Unprofessional at best...deceptive at worse!

"Upon agreeing to it, my Nov build slot was suddenly
changed to March due to PTS.
"

To be expected since we have been telling folks for
years that PTS requires minimum of three months
from confirmed order to scheduled production dates.
But nevertheless, PAG, PCNA & your dealer should
have explained the process AHEAD of time so that
this shift to March build date came as no surprise
to you!

"Then 4 days later (Aug 3), news hits of the price
increase, which both my dealer principal and Porsche
Exclusive contact confirm to me same day with the
(true) disclaimer that they didn't know and had no
say in the matter.
"

Finally, you learned the hard facts of PTS from folks
you seem to trust! When you dealer principal & reps
at 'Porsche Exclusive' told you they didn't know about
the PTS price increase, I do believe them! It is true!
But also believe that they probably don't know
if you have been approved for PTS & they also
do not know what will happen if you get rejected
for PTS by PAG!

You have also learned by now that 'Porsche Exclusive'
does not control PTS or knows much about who gets
it...or who doesn't. So always take anything they tell
you about PTS with a grain of salt!

Now, after you know all of this, do you still think that
Porsche, PCNA & the dealers are handling the PTS
process fairly well????

This was one of my favorite tunes from 'South Pacific'.
So although I am concerned & not optimistic yet, I am
hoping for the best & pulling for you guys with the...
'Happy Talk'!

Eduardo

I don't know whether it's related to any price hikes and subsequent cancellations, but my dealer just informed me our PTS delivery jumped from Feb '18 to Dec '17.

Care to share more for the Database? Vcode, Color, CXX? You can keep any details you like private, feel free to PM me.

I have two listed for October production on the Database, one going to Belgium and one to Malaysia.

Default Painted headlight washers...

Odd that you can choose most painted options in
your PTS color, but you cannot choose the headlight
washers in your PTS color.

Duplicate post in other PTS threads.
That may be because reportedly headlight washers are
being 'phased out' of 991.2 in cars for North America!

From the 991 Forum:

I had thought it was a NA DOT regulation that headlight washers were required over a certain output, but apparently it's a UN regulation, so therefore not needed.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp;

Dirt buildup on headlamp lenses increases glare to other road users, even at levels too low to reduce seeing performance significantly for the driver.[citation needed] Therefore, headlamp lens cleaners are required by UN Regulation 48 on vehicles equipped with low-beam headlamps using light sources that have a reference luminous flux of 2,000 lumens or more.[10] This includes all HID headlamps and some high-power halogen units. Some cars have lens cleaners fitted even where the regulations do not require them. North America, for example, does not use UN regulations, and FMVSS 108 does not require lens cleaners on any headlamps, though they are permitted.

I want to see more of that purple Boxster. That color looks fairly close to my dream color.

Not that I could afford so much as a base Boxster in that color right now, but it's good to have goals. You tend to find a way to reach them.
