It very well might be and if that ends up being the case, its value is likely to increase with time. Perhaps not as much as the 997 4.0 as that one is pretty scarce.

McLaren is unveiling a new car at Goodwood on Friday 27. My bet is 650RS.

I think I read it will be a 650 based GT3 for track.

Yes I expect you're right. Kind of an RS but not for the road

I don't see why that has to be the case - they make so few that it hardly impacts their corporate average fuel economy standards. I'm sure that they designed the new 9A1 block for further expansion of displacement (until they are forced to move to Flat-8 for even more).

4.0 is what I was expecting and hoping for from the RS

If recent rumors are true--about 918 hybrid tech tickling down to next gen turbo models and other models in the lineup and turbo engines to fill the pipeline for most product lines within the next 5 years and with competitors like McLaren and Ferrari going to FI engines, my assumption is that Porsche will follow suit. If not this gen being the last for NA, then next? I have no inside info--just my opinion. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Regardless...the RS is going to very exciting!

Relieved to get more confirmation.

Enzo, but worth listening to this NA goodness again.

I agree, just like using PDK only, I don't know how Porsche can keep competitive in the market without using turbo in the GT3 models in the future. 458 goes to turbo next year as well, which will have as much power as the 650, and I believe they will get close to 700hp soon.

If they wanted to, it would be easy. A Flat-8 (for which the 9A1 was designed using its modularity) using the same cylinder size as the 4.0 would make 5.33L and making the same 125 hp/L would produce 667 HP of naturally aspirated power. And there is room for both larger cylinders and higher specific output of hp/L

Would be great if it were but I think it's too close to the 650 launch for it to be ready yet. I'm going along to the event so I hope it is the P13!

You're right. No one could make 650hp for a naturally aspirated engine. Not even Chevy.

The 650hp Chevy is Supercharged, not NA (sorry if you were being serious - I interpreted that as a good natured needling).
