My Gulf Blue, paint code 328, GT3 has been the topic of this forum several times. The first time on 3/23/15 https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...-and-gets.html and most recently in post #2080 of this thread. I thought it was time to get the facts straight about this car and Porsche’s recovery to correct the error. My deposit went down well before the car was ever formally announced. The dealer accepted my request for PTS on Golf Blue code 6603. They informed that that there was no guarantee on the car being painted any PTS color until the car was formally announced. Furthermore, they pointed out that the odds were against getting 6603 as it was not an approved color and would have to go through a feasibility study in order to be approved by PAG. The window of opportunity for PTS closed on me just before the stop production occurred. That worked out well for me. When the cars went back into production the PTS window reopened. Once again the dealer inquired if 6603 Golf Blue could happen. The dealer generated a spray out panel and it was provided along with the request. A positive response came back within a week. Both the dealer and I questioned the accuracy of that response given our mutual expectation of the timeline of a feasibility study. So a second inquiry was made. Once again a positive response was given. The dealer and I were both still not yet convinced that PAG understood the request. A third request was for 6603 was put forth and once again, a positive response was received. It is important to note that the dealer showed me all of the responses as he received them.
Months later the 991 GT3 was delivered to the dealer in 328 Gulf Blue, not 6603 Golf Blue. It is perfectly clear to me that the error was not made by the dealer. The measure of a man, or an organization, is not if they ever commit an error, but how they recover from the error. The dealer told me that he would be back to me in a couple of days with options on what they could do to make it right. The options were fair, but didn’t solve the problem of losing the driving season while a new car was being built. The car sat in the dealer’s showroom as we worked out the fix. I was more than pleased with their offer, which included remedies from both PCNA and the dealership, and took possession of the 328 Gulf Blue GT3. Over time I fell in love with the color. So much so that my 991GT3 RS is, you guessed it, 328 Gulf Blue.

Two 991 GT cars in the same colour?
That's crazy!
Edit: Love, love love the gulf! Golf, not so much.

My Voodoo Blue RS should be finished or about to finish production. These nightmare stories of cars being delivered with the incorrect PTS color have me nervous. The other stories of cars being delivered with sofas instead of the LWB (as ordered) also are creating some serious heart burn! Is it too much to ask for things that you ordered? I have a great deal if confidence in my sales manager, so I think I'm ok but a number of these have been PAG's fault. The "correction" of these errors takes months or longer.

Agreed! Golf blue works nicely on the rs. Those pics are in bright Florida sunshine. Voodoo is a bit brighter and golf would be a bit more low key color
I predict more Golf Blue cars in the near future, it looks like a darker and muted Voodoo here. For a color that could be called conservative it's surprisingly sporty, racy on an RS. It's going to be a rare car, a lucky unlucky owner.
A opportunistic dealer would offer him $50K for the error and the 'next' RS.

Sadly, No - I've been travelling too much since my wife picked it up, so I've not had a chance to even drive it let alone photograph it. Hopefully in the next week or 2 I'll get it out for a drive and some photos.

re: 'Golf Blue'...
like 'Dark Knight'! I think PAG will no revisit PTS on any MY2016
model since that option was closed on most Porsche models in
July of 2015. But that is just my 'dos centavos', for what is worth.

re: 'Golf Blue'
For those that follow the information provided on PTS on this thread,
and are interested in the specific details of how it works, this portion
of my post is for you PTS 'geeks'. 'Golf Blue' first appears on the PTS
list as undergoing feasibility study in the Spring of 2014. It had not
color code yet attached to it. The {X} at the end reflects the fact that
it's a 'new' entry or a change in status:
****
The vintage paint number for 'Golf Blue' in 1966/67 was 6603.
But the internal color code was 315. Some colors, after feasibility
testing, retain their 'historic' color code (e.g. 'Signal Yellow' is still 114).
Often, PAG comes up with a different color code for a vintage color
of old...and in this case (as you will see shortly) the color code was
changed completely.
****
The PTS list was next updated in July 2014 & it was still under feasibility:
No change in the next update in Sept 2014:
The next time I see 'Golf Blue' it is on the Jan 2015 PTS as
approved. And it finally has a color code attached to it - W91.
But there is not {X} next to it, which leads me to believe it was
changed to approved in the list that was issued in the late Fall/
early Winter of 2014. I just don't happen to have that list handy
at the moment.
The way PTS works at Porsche is that a color is approved for your
car if:
a) Your dealer has an allocation for that model.
b) At the time your allocation is available to custom
order, the PTS window must be opened & your
car eligible for PTS.
c) If you qualify for a & b, the color you choose for
PTS must already be on the approved list.
d) If a, b, & c are all lined up, your PTS color needs to
be ordered at least 3 months in advance of your
scheduled production.
So for example, if your dealer received from PAG a
PTS '15 gt3 in March of 2015, more than likely that
vehicle was built in late 2014 (e.g. Dec) or very early
in 2015 (e.g. Jan). That likely means that the PTS
color desired for that vehicle needed to be on the
approved list, at a minimum, three months before
its production date since that is the minimum time
required by PAG to pre-order the paint for each
PTS car scheduled for production!
By these calculations, it doesn't seem that 'Golf Blue',
color code W91, was approved for PTS in time for it
to be able to be ordered on a vehicle scheduled for
production in late 2014 or even very early in 2015.
Note: All characters appearing in this post are fictitious.
Any resemblance to real persons, dealers or gt3s, living
or dead, is purely coincidental.

Isn't is still possible that Golf was approved very soon after the Sept 2014 list was published? If it was okayed in, say, Oct 2014, maybe that might still be enough time for a Dec/Jan build?
#1990
To add to that these days we have things called Instagram filters as well haha. I was posting a picture of a Riviera Blue RS the other day and depending on filters it would change to very convincing depictions of Miami Blue, Gulf Blue, etc. I think the picture subject to debate was guilty of said filters.

Even still...
On Sept 09, 2014, 'Golf Blue' was not yet approved. The
next approved PTS list probably came out in November 2014.
That is when 'Golf Blue' might have surfaced (W91) as an
approved color. Even if W91 was approved in between Sept
09 & mid Nov 2014, I doubt it would have been enough time
for PAG to allow that freshly approved color to be planned for
a Dec 2014/Jan 2015 991 production. Remember, PAG requires
at a minimum three full months between an accepted order &
scheduled production date in order to request the particular
PTS paint in advance. So say we guess Oct 15 as the approval
PTS date for 'Golf Blue' / W91:
Oct 15 to Nov 15 - Month #1
Nov 15 to Dec 15 - Month #2
Dec 15 to Jan 15 - Month #3
Regardless our interesting speculation, no such 'Golf Blue' gt3
was built in December of 2014 or January of 2015. That is a 'fact'.
And I am just trying to suggest a reasonable hypothesis as to why
a 'Golf Blue' 991 was probably not built if it's assembly date was
scheduled for December 2014 or early January 2015.

I feel you, Eduardo. Just hypothetical questions, that's all! And I appreciate your thoughtful response.
In my very limited experience (ordering CXX, fwiw), PAG moves VERY fast once approval is granted, and can put the gears in motion to finalize a build and prepare for production (it was literally days from CXX approval to locked build, even factoring in a few extra days just for me to get currency conversion and the finance people involved for pricing in the Canadian market). So hypothetically speaking, I agree there would have been enough time. Diablo's JD.

purple and blue are hard colors to photograph I think, if you look a the martini "hippy car" 917 in some pictures it looks blue and in others purple, Ive been told the true color is blue (Konigsblau) and lighting made it look purple at times

Colors on the blue/green 'Hippie' livery 918....
I met the owner of the 'blue/green' 'Hippie Livery' 918 at Rennsport V.
In fact he let me drive it for a short bit. I also have posted a thread on
Rennlist about the unique two paint PTS 918's...
The Last of the 918s - the special PTS cars & their stories!
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...r-stories.html
***
I have also exchanged notes with the person that posted first
about this 'Hippy Car' 918 at Rennlist (162435):
918 PTS - Hippie livery
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...ie-livery.html
***
For the sake of accuracy on this 'reference' PTS thread, the 'blue'
color used on this 'Hippie' 918 is actually NOT 'Königsblau', which
is a vintage Porsche 356B color from 1960/1961. I owned a 1964 356C
Carrera 2 coupe that was painted PTS 'Königsblau', or 'Royal Blue'
as that color was called in English. The color code was '742'. Porsche
internal paint # was 6012. So I am quite familiar with that color! See
a representation of 'Königsblau' on a 356 below, which doesn't
generally show any hint of 'purple':
The owner of this particular 918 requested PAG to match the colors
of another 'psychedelic' 917 (917-043) that resides in Pennsylvania
at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum painted in the same
Martini livery (remember that photos often 'lie' about true color).
I have the particular color names & codes for the 'blue/green' 918
from Minnesota, the 'Hippie' livery car. But I am waiting to ask the
owner of this particular 918 if he doesn't mind if that information is
posted here on Rennlist. It's just common courtesy, since I respect
the privacy of these owners re: their cars. But I can confirm to you,
& others here on Rennlist, that the blue on that 918 is actually not
'Königsblau', the old Porsche 356B vintage color!
