Default AC rockers.

PO had glopped some black paint or something on the rockers. Replaced them.

That's normal, the PO didn't do anything. The interior rubber and plastics on these cars are really awful, they get sticky and nasty. My car has always lived in a garage when not being driven, but despite that I still had to replace the rubber rings on the radio *****. They were sticky and looked like your HVAC controls.

It's no different on any 80s/90s Ferrari with their sticky interior buttons/controls. They all degraded over a long enough timeline.

8 months since moving from NC to the Shenandoah Valley I finally brought her “home”. She had been sitting at my dad’s house in NC.

in spite of a number of mostly mundane idiot lights on dash, almost 165,000 miles on odometer, she drove without a hitch on the 300 mile trip to VA.
(Even got 28.3 MPG while averaging 71 MPH for 4.5 hours)

man I love this thing!!

Today I got my Homelink programmed - I have a Compatibility Bridge that connects to a newer garage door opener.

Also my frunk light wasn't working. I pulled it out, the bulb looked okay, put it back in and either it was not installed correctly or there was some corrosion but anyway I put it back in and it works fine now!

I knew they could get bad, but this is just amazing!
Glad to see though, the fix is easy these days...

Thank you!

Love the country. 10 minute drive to Skyline drive and over a dozen wineries. The longer I live here the more it's clear to me that the cayman is ALL I need for any/all roads around here. The 991 GTS is basically an overkill and will now stay in the garage for long periods of time.

I went after my steering wheel yesterday and today. I stitched on my new leather cover and as I had everything apart, I repainted the two bright silver trim pieces that had been rubbed through by previous owners.

The new cover looks OE and feels like a new, modern sports car with a proper thickness. It really does take a good 3 hours to stitch it together, but it was not so bad watching FP2 and Qualys yesterday for the Canadian GP in my living room.

Rustoleum 2x ultracover in “Aluminum” is a dead ringer for the silver trim pieces. It was necessary to sand off ALL of the existing paint from the pieces to avoid any cracking.

I’m very satisfied with the results.

Was inspired by a previous post. Went to my specialist to reset the maintenance clock as it glitched last time I did the regular service. There I saw a fellow Cayman (987) also in silver so we had a nice talk. It seemed to be a slightly darker shade than my Arctic Silver (Might just be the placement of his car), he has Sport Exhaust and Sport Seats, 5MT and the glorious rear wiper! I now dread that I didn't take a photo of both cars together. It's rare to see Caymans here. After that went to see a Porsche classic club rep for some coffee and chat since I joined recently.

Hooked my 987.1 to a battery tender because it wouldn't start this morning... I was getting System Faults on the drive home on Thursday (windows and door locks stopped working) so I'm guessing an electrical gremlin hunt is in my near future.

Probably was GT Silver ...it's slightly darker than Arctic and has a slight blue hue to it.
