Another with no camo... wearing the new 718 GT4 wheels (new bolt location and angular spokes similar to the GT Cayenne Coupe wheels).

Agreed. The Speedster is Porsche's 'Emperor's New Clothes' car. Looks awful, but price it high and make believe it's special, and people will 'just have to have it.' People who drool over that ugly mess are the same people who use words like 'amazing' and 'epic' to describe horrible colors just because Porsche puts the letters PTS next to them.

I still get the same vibes that I got from the first camouflaged spy shots.

Guys, I've got to jump in here and tell you that after seeing the Speedster last month at the NY Int Auto Show, and actually sitting in it, shifting the gears etc... that it is SPECTACULAR, especially in the "Heritage" paint option. Sorry to disagree, but is it a porker? No, not in any way shape or form. I could not keep my eyes off of it. I went back a dozen times to look at it before mournfully leaving the show, realizing that $300K was slightly out of my snack-bracket. They've hit a home run, for those that can afford it. And sadly, at that price, it will most likely be a "Rapunzel" car, destined to be locked away in a castle as a future investment, never driven and only admired from afar.
I only hope that Porsche offers GT silver and a two-toned Espresso/Tan leather interior combination in the 982 Spyder. Fingers crossed...

Speedster is out of my league so I'm ambivalent about whether it does or does not look good

but I'm thinking a Boxster 6 will be the ticket unless the Spyder has some serious goodies

would like to see the multi-link rear suspension on the GT4/Spyder but unlikely to happen

the talk is GT4 will be 110 pounds lighter, wonder how the Cayman 6 & Boxster 6 will compare to GT4/Spyder

the 987 Spyder was the ultimate modern lightweight driving machine regardless of what you thought of the top

hope they can capture the essence of the 987 version

I like the rear of the Speedster but the front of it is meh. To me it's nothing more than a GT3 with no roof and a different rear. Even the interior is no different. Meh. That Spyder test mule looks like it has more character than the Speedster if I am just comparing looks.

Today, I visited my local Porsche dealer and talked to the SM. He mentioned something interesting. Stated that all North America 718 Cayman and Boxster new allocations are on hold until January 2020. I knew Cayman production is leaving Stuttgart, so this and the fact that they doubled 992 production has something to do with it. This supports my prediction of the GT4 and Spyder launch at LA in November... where many think goodwood.

Interesting development.

Yes, indeed Cayman production will once again be pushed off from Zuffenhausen to Osnabrück in Lower Saxony.

*
But let us not forget that Porsche has not really stop assembling 718 Caymans in Osnabrück even after PAG told
us a few years ago that all 2 door Porsche sportscars would be built in Zuffenhausen. As you can see from the
2017 PAG Annual Report, 8446 Caymans were built in 2017 Financial year in Osnabrück.

*
And 4764 718 Caymans were built in Osnabrück in 2018 Financial Year:

***
I have cleared the deck for my upcoming Boxster Spyder allocation (#2 at my dealer with a deposit since 2017) by selling my 2017 .2 991 S coupe &
my 1973 914 2.0. But if indeed the announcement of the model is delayed until the 2019 November LA Auto Show that will push first US deliveries to
February 2020 or so. The first 987 Spyder was announced on Nov. 5th 2009 at LA & released worldwide
in February 2010 as a 2011 model. So if this
new Boxster Spyder announcement is late in the year (2019), could history be repeated & the release in Feb 2020 be considered by PAG as a 2021
model? That's some delay. PCNA CEO Klaus Zellmer told me personally at Rennsport last September (2018) that the Boxster Spyder was for sure
going to be released (I thought he meant 'into production' not 'just an announcement') in second half of 2019!

And also...what is the latest thinking, or general consensus, among the 'cognoscenti' here in our forum regarding what naturally aspirated engine
they will fit into this new Boxster Spyder model? A detuned 4.0 gt3 motor or an uprated version of the 3.8-liter flat-6 fitted to the previous B. Spyder?
Since it's now expected that a non-gt3 flat-6 motor will be fitted into the upcoming MY2020 regular Boxster/Cayman models so that this NA type
of engine will be back in 'production' at Zuffenhausen!

I am hoping to receive a gt4 allocation (#12, yikes!), But I follow both that and the Spyder. I really really hope both of them show up at goodwood. November would be a massive delay. Interesting about the production line, but man these cars look done!

Here is something posted recently on Pff. No idea on source but take everything as you will with a grain of salt.

"The Spyder comes only as a switch, has 20-inch Spyder wheels, 4 Uni, 3 Metallic and 2 special colors ... and there is a Spyder Classic interior package ...

Happy weekend 😊

...Spyder Wheel, Alcantara Part Leather with Sport Seat Plus (optional clamshell and full shell), black taillights, Sport Chrono, GT suspension, brake and steering wheel. The Spyder 718 Spyder is said to cost around 93,000 euros.

As I said 4.0 boxer with 420 hp and only 420 Nm a little torque ... my GT4 synonymous with the 3.8 engine ... Thank OPF?"

If true, same torque rating as 981?? Maybe it peaks differently?

Thinking... Just because North American new allocations are delayed until January for all 718s doesn’t mean much? Heck... we haven’t even gotten the new Macan yet and how long has that been since debut. Some weird stuff happening with Porsche and timing. It might debut and we might have to wait?
