Right, the Durametric cable is a USB to OBD1/2 cable. Think of it more as a analog serial to digital serial conversion cable, there are also chips in there to prevent piracy of the software as well as the protocol conversion for a PC to read it, so it acts as a sort of a dongle. Calling adapter cable an OBD1 to OBD2 cable for the other bit is really a misnomer, as it is more of a physical conversion, vs electrical/protocol. OBD1 defined the protocol and the electrical connections, OBD2 took it further and required a standard connector. Like the old days, many computers had standard serial protocol interfaces, but the connectors varied from apple, commodore, ibm, etc.

An other example for the adapter cables, Europe has all sorts of wall plugs, 220v however with hot and neutral and ground are there, so getting an adapter from Euro to American is a physical conversion, but will still blow you 110v appliance if it can not handle the 220v. I transformer to plug in to the european plug and convert the voltage to 110v as well as change the physical outlet is more like that the durametric cable does for PCs.

There is nothing special about the adapter cables (OBD1 to OBD2) Durametric uses to their USB/OBD2 cable. As they are merely physical conversions and dumb cables.

This adapter looks viable.

I never looked for the 'rennlist freeware' but this also looked interesting.

Aside from airbag or alarm issues, is there any other info these items would provide above what the self diagnostic check with the dash light?

Ordered a new condensor, drier and barrier hose yesterday. Going to remove front bumper to clean everything and replace rubber seals. Are there any tricks or tips to getting bumper cover and seals back on?

Griffiths flat plate condenser might work better if you are converting.

No suggestions on the welt but all those screws....millions of screws)) I would scope out your bat wing and grill as it would be an opportune time to replace them....and the front lower cladding rubber while the front tires are off. There are a couple mounts for the bumper under the batwing. The little tabs on the batwing that insert to the bumper are fragile so be gentle.

Ok yea I ordered all that stuff from Griffiths. Have all the plastic off and have already cleaned it up. Seems to be in pretty good shape other than corroded screws.

You are doing it right. This is how you take something, make it yours and make it right!
Kudos!

Removing front bumper cover
(Also to access horns, takes about 15 min to remove and 15 min to reinstall)
Apron - 11 Phillips head screws, 2 8mm hex nuts, 3 10mm hex head screws.
Fender liner retainer - 2 10mm hex head screws
Bumper cover retainer brackets - 3 8mm head screws each side
Bumper cover top retainer - 4 Philips screws
4 lighting connectors
tech tip:

put a blanket down to catch the bumper cover, as it is rather unwieldy.

Also, take care regarding the rubber gaskets that go between the bumper cover and the fenders.

When reassembling, the long flat piece goes inside a groove on the bumper cover.

I noticed the rubber strips (which had turned into hard plastic) were stapled into the bumper and also looked like they had rubber cement. When I put the new ones on should I staple them as well? If so what size staples do I need? Do I need a special staple gun to get them through the the plastic?

Others can chime in, but no I don't think the tubing is done that way factory. I have however heard of people doing as a mod, since the rubber can shrink and pull out like that.

There was a thread I saw somewhere on it, with a red car, wonder if that is yours

Others have had that idea for the 993, so maybe it is that way on those? https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...r-install.html

EDIT: Found the thread on a 968 with this done https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...alignment.html

Looks in the same shape as my new to me 968, except instead of the body the front crossmember is being held in by one bolt and a floor jack while I figure a way to twist the drivers side engine mount out (yes I have separate means to support the engine itself)

Let me know how that goes, engine mounts are in my near future.

Guys can you help me with this??
1) What happens to the ends of this beading for front bumper cover? Is it supposed to wrap around or do you cut it at the ends?
2) In the bag came this piece of metal that inserts perfectly in the beading and its very flexible, I assume it goes on an end or something and you can bend it to fit around something?

Thanks
