*fotos of the completed paint job can be viewed on page 14.

yes,

when you include the purchase of the gearbox.

like i told the good gentleman who sold me the transmission (he's not the guy who beat on it);

"if you want to play in Porsche you better come to expect that you'll always be replacing stuff."

Kevin had cautioned me from the beginning (paraphrasing),

"driving it in the Green Mountains would have been pretty harsh... fingers crossed until i'm able to look in and see."

sure enough, he showed me a bunch of chipped, frayed parts, and it was clear i wasn't going far on this transmission....

if i had stayed with the box that was already on the car, (and after adding in the cost of transmission removal, rebuild,
installing the go-fast stuff, and then re-install back onto the car), i would have come out about $1,100~$1,200 ahead....
or, not counting the cost to take it off and put it back up (4 sets of gears + lsd + complete rebuild) would have been
around $6,300. but, the unnecessary adventure still isn't too bad,

as i didn't suffer the inconvenience of having the car off the road. and i end up with an extra transmission.

od.

update;

front end is now painted. got a lot of pics to load so keep checking back...

apologies, due to time constraints, we couldn't do the whole car this week (but, we'll finish her in a few days).

i needed the front end work i've done sealed up from the elements, oxygen, UV, etc by the end of this week....

and the car for traveling this upcoming week.

also chose to wait a few days for the paint to harden thoroughly before replacing the weather stripping.

the camera almost captures the deepness of this color...

it's a midpoint color about halfway between Minerva and Cobalt blue.

A part number beginning with 01E in PET will show in ETKA with the same part number - there aren't many parts except some small sleeves and synchros that are swappable.

thanks a lot !

the hardest part was sculpting the line that runs along the fender... for the right ending,

it has to taper off and then go completely round.

Looks great, love the color choice! Were you able to get a mold before paint?

Outstanding !
When you were doing the lower front, I didn't like it that much(on its own) but I clearly didn't have the vision you did. Now its combined with the the amazing job you have done on the lights, it has all come together almost perfectly(I say almost because I hate saying anything is perfect ).

I am guessing you will be going clear lenses on all the lights ? what would complete the modern look would be LED daytime running lights in the brake ducts(IMO) but obviously you have had the vision to get her this far, so I am sure how ever you apply the finishing touches you will end up with a superb result, as what you have done so far is already amazing
well done OD, love your work mate
peace

wow, looks fantastic!
i do see the need for the updated bumper to go along with the lights...i think a factory bumper wouldn't quite blend as well.
amazing work, can't wait to see it in person. Any chance you will take it over to Cars & Coffee Boston at Larz Anderson tomorrow morning?

i've been kind of oblivious to the clear signal lights.

i just spent 350 bucks getting a new pair of the orange lenses so i guess i'll be staying with orange for now.

(i also don't actually mind them).

they should be arriving in a few days from (Suncoast Porsche).

after 18 years, it was time to change the old ones (dull, scratched) out.
