Space suit
I've owned a 968 since 1995, but I've learned more about 968s this last week than in the prior 22 years. My recently purchased car seemed too nice to pass up. Since buying it I have spent tons of time on Jeff's 968registry.org site learning more about our cars. And then today I had time to further inspect my recent purchase.
This car came with records of all it's prior maintenance. But there hasn't been much since the car just topped 54k miles. The last timing belt was done at 38k miles, in 2008. So it's due even though I don't plan to drive this car.
There are a few paint scuffs and slight road debris wear areas mainly on the bottom front of the rear fenders. I need some floor mats (anyone know the best source for original mats?). The hood slightly rubs the drivers side wiper. The wheels have a few weird scuffs. I've attached a pic. Seems to me they might have been caused by towing, etc.
Some of more interesting things to me are that the car was sold in June of 1993, but the VIN identifies it as a 1994. I understand the 718 code, but this still seems weird to me. I wonder when it actually left the factory. It has the early style seats. They are much softer than the sports seats in my other car. I've attached a pic of the passenger seat. Both seats are in great shapes, but now that I see how much nicer the passenger seat looks, I'll probably end up getting the driver's seat redone eventually
It has the engine compartment plastic including the gloves in the front compartment. The tailpipe is different than on my other car. I think I read something about a change in door handles. I think these are rounder than my other car, and this car has an extra covering over the elbow rest (see pic).
The funniest thing to me was the white suit cover (space suit) I found. I had not seen one of these.
I plan to just tinker with this car trying to get it back to as original as possible. This car does drive smoother than my cabriolet, but as least having a junker 968 will keep me from wanting to drive this one.

Oh yeah, I hate that cassette holder attachment. I'll have to decide whether to remove that, or keep it since it's original. That other bag on the space suit contains some sort of factory straps. I also like that brown covering on the tool kit. It's gray on my other car.

Jeff has seen this car. Spark posted it on sale here, that's how I found it. My other car 968 is just a black on black cabriolet with 186k miles. The paint is peeling through to the primer on the trunk. It does have the tech art front spoiler that replaces the rubber piece on our cars, and some huge aftermarket wheels..lol.

Rolled tip pipe is another "earlier" car feature. Door handles are all the same. The clear bag with the straps in it is the sunroof holder. I have the same.
Nice car!
So, what 968 did you have in 1995???

i took mine out and stuck them in a bag 10+ years ago...5 seconds to reinstall if needed for "originality purposes"

Neat! I loved these car when new and almost bought a new coupe but waited for the depreciation to kick in. I still have a photo of my son (4 at the time, now 25) and my daughter (7 at the time, now 28) in front of the oak green coupe that came close to being mine.
