I agree with Scott. Those aren't factory sport seats, incorrect rear seats for a Japanese model so its very possible parts of this interior were out of the car and aren't original. Likely a Japanese track car.
I can't say for sure what is going on other than desirable color combo. There is far too much lipstick on this one to see what is really going on. Lots of little things that just screams completely redone to me. Textured paint where it doesn't belong. Grommets that would be painted all fresh and new in black. New wheel liners. Incorrect door seals. Support bars normally covered in undercoating freshly painted black. Underside of rear flairs usually don't have that much color applied. Incorrect hardware used in several locations. Missing covers and coils of wire just stuffed. Supple leather rear seats with incorrect sport seats. That is my take just from the pics above.
I agree with Clay on this one. Like most I see from Japan more stories than truth.
this missing details are cheap eye liner - matching the lipstick. so it is unbelivabe they did not do that parts. this rotors and caliper paint is under 1k - so do not trust in other work or words. beautiful color, over all looking good car but who knows ….
Fellas, I own the car. If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me. I will happily provide anyone with any information they request. Clay, I have helped you find a car before, so you know me personally and you've also recommended people to buy cars from me...
If necessary, I will post the invoice (unredacted) here showing my full name, address and payment information. I am required to redact that personal, confidential information by any auction platform. @Scott Dunavant you have literally no basis to say an insurance company paid for this restoration. I paid for it, with my own hard earned money. And, I literally have the receipt. So, you're either some hater troll or idk, but your accusation is baseless. If you have a basis, please elucidate me.
Howdy Eric. Nothing personal, I didn't have a clue who owned the car. Larts sells lots of seats (re-constructions and original) and from the angles photographed they looked different from mine and others I’ve seen in person. There’s 70 pages of analysis on this thread discussing 964 Turbo’s on the market, I don’t believe Scott is taking issue with your car out of spite. He’s a frequent contributor who’s rebuilt multiple 964 Turbo’s.
Clay, the car in your avatar is one I found for you. He literally has no basis for what he says. I get calls from people who say, "this is painful to watch." Why are these people like this? It's sad.

I'm not so sure Scott is so far off base. Many things give away a hard past life. I have to agree that this was a tracked car at one time and has a lot of evidence remaining from holes in the tub for pins for the rear deck lid to all the engine mods and eye bolts for harnesses in the tub. A full refreshed interior at only 38k miles? Full respray but they forgot the black around the doors plus many other things done incorrectly. I do not see any signs of the frunk being painted but clearly it was at some time. Was this done by you or was this painted once before. Before pictures would have helped.
She is a beauty but clearly did not have a pampered past.
We talk 1991-1994 C2 Turbos on this tread. As I mentioned. My personal car was a track car with a rough History. This Rubystone shows that History all day long. Just the Shock Towers should have been replaced. SO easy to replace.
next owner can do that easy stuff. Nothing against the seller. These cars are a lot of work.
I personally showed my car before, during and after. Let's see this Ruby before.
As Cobalt pointed out new plastics could mean RWB body.
Again no big deal. So much work involved restoring these cars.
Here's the seller's receipt on Pcarmarket. Says insurance paid $30,892.00
I assume a hail car. Why would the insurance pay?
Here's my track day car. Getting re-bodied. Not for 90% of buyers. But it's set up the way I wanted it.
You should be proud to show everyone your hardwork. Getting these cars ready for the market is so painful.
Most Dealer's just buy and mark up $50,000
You are going through the pain and expense.
When I took this picture I thought I was dying from long Covid and Bronchitis.
I'm not doing one again. my lungs are shot from years of the bodyshop business.
@Scott_Dunavant you picked up on a clerical error. (It also says "CUSTOMER PAY" on the first page of the invoice.) So, now I had to call and have them correct the invoice even though you're not bidding on the car, just assailing it, based on conjecture. Bravo.
@Cobalt Can remain resident king of all 964 Turbo knowledge with his (1 or 2!) Cobalt 3.6 Turbo car. He's not bidding on the car either and seems like a kind of crotchety New Englander anyway, so let's just leave him alone.
Why is this performative song and dance necessary? It is an objectively beautiful car. Again, if you have any questions about it, not vague assertions or petty little jabs, I'll happily take it to the shop of your choosing to get a PPI done by an independent mechanic. But you're not serious, you're just nitpicking the car for sport and now I have to post a CC screenshot to refute some guy who is not even bidding on the car. It all seems a little silly.
