Cool Welding the cat and 2nd muffler

Also my buddy cam by the weld the catalytic converter cracks and the 2nd muffler crack.

His name is Jacco van Genderen and he is a professional welder in the food processing area.

He worked with a so called TIG Welding unit, and he did a nice job there.

After welding a test piece, he welded a very nice juob there.

Please check his web site, he is a VW specialist also, click to

The cat is welded asmost over 360 degr.
The internal material of the cat is still in good shape and had no damage after welding.

Cool

As you see, he welded a bolt on the cat as well.

This is a stainless steel bolt which I use for a extra mass/ground strap for a better working O2 sensor.

All the welding is done with stainless steel material.

Also for the secundairy muffler..............

All this saves me a hughe amount of bucks here!

Nice weekend!

Hey Jacco,

You found your way in to Rennlist, great!

You forgot your hammer and 1 of your disks at my place, I think you will notice.............

John, Yes we have tight emission control over here, we need Lambda 0.9 till 1.1 and a Co from 0.5%, so which means that my catalytic converter should work overhere...........

Cool More today........

I found some time in the afternoon doing some things on the car.

I prepaired the handbrake, lubricate it and adjust it.

Please check if the handbrake adjust system work well by rotating the shown little wheel.

Please oil the system, so it will work still in two years.

Please adjust the handbrake with the disk placed. This is possible thru the big hole on the front side in the disk. Use a flash light and a scre driver to rotate the little wheel.

Make the hand brake handle adjustment inside the car under the handle.

Please clean the contact surfaces of the disk and wheel bolt unit very well. Otherwise you will have a un balance in the brake disk after your done.

Wink Water deflector

In the front brake area there are two shields that will keep the water of the disk which could come from under the car.

Mine where corroded, so I prepaired them and painted them black again.
Easy to do.

Exclamation Wrong brake caliper rear right...

I found a little problem on the rear right side.............

A year ago I replaced two brak calipers for used and good ones. I got 2 good calipers then, there still fine but............
The pistons left are smaller then right. Right is the one I replaced , but there is a difference from 3.5 millimeters in the pistons. The replaced one has 2 bigger pistons.

I will call the people that sold me this, I am sure they will trade it for the one which is ok.

Shown is the old one which I replaced because of the broken seals [condoms].

Thats good service Arjan, well done. Have you considered rebuilding the calipers, or is there no need? I had mine rebuilt last year and they were much more effective.

Also, have you been tempted to go a bit crazy and clean many of the 'hidden' parts of the car? I know quite a lot of mud and dirt can collect under the fenders etc. It would be nice to have those areas cleaned and maybe even treated with anti-rust products?

Keep up the great work!
