almost to the end
After installing the wheels [be sure you use some copper grease on the wheel bolts!!!] I checked the battery and the battery clamps, the windscreen washer fluid, the brake fluid and I checked the power steering oil [dextron 2, or automatic transmission fluid.]
Also I checked the lights, and replaced the 2 H4 bulbs from the head lights.
Cecked the tire pressure and cleaned the car after the work is done.....

Wax the jack spots!
After the jacking is done, I put some body protection wax on the jack spots. These spots are full in rain water and salt all winter, so I protect them.

Re: Wheel change

First check always your wheels for dirt on the inside surface which comes on the brake disk. If dirt is on the wheel/disk, you will have a unstabile steeringwheel, it starts to shake...... Please take some time for that.

Hi Arjan,
Glad to see you finished the service! Well done and thanks for inviting questions.
Are you saying that brake dust build up on the inside of the wheels can lead to a wheel wobble or steering wheel judder??
Cheers

Thanks guys,
Dave,
No, not the brake dust is the problem, grease, corrosion, paint are the main problems. They make a un flat surface to the disk on the area where the wheel bolts are going thru.
Good luck!

Even though I have a 993 I have to say this is probably the best post I have seen on Rennlist many thanks for posting it. Hope the car is going as well as it should after all of your hard work!

Thanks Tim,
I had a ride tody with the family, kid in the back and there it goes...
We drolve about 75 miles, and the car runs great.
The only thing that is not a 100% is the front brakes. When I touch the pedal soft at a speed of 70 miles/h, the steering wheel starts to shake. When I push the pedal harder, it's gone. I think the new pads and the disks have to wear on each other. There is a upstanding rim on the outside of the disks from where the old pads had the waer surface in the last years. I think the rim does this thing to my pads. If the problem is not gone in 2 weeks, I will open up the front brakes and inspect the cause.
In a emergency brake situation all brakes work 100%. Now the comfort issue, and then all is fine.

Arjan,
Excellent thread. I don't have time right now to check every post to see if this was covered, but in case it wasn't :
I know you replaced your oil pressure sender. When I had mine replaced, about a month later my car developed an oil leak (actually it happened twice). This seemed to be because the sealing ring between the sender and the engine compresses - basically the sender needs to be torqued down again. Mine was spraying oil everywhere.
Since you now have the tool to do this - and it's quite easy to get access to the pressure sensor it's probably worth thinking about doing this just to be sure after 500 miles or so.

Not yet, I will ask the dealer where I bought the parts. Sure he will do that.
I tested the car this morning on the brake test machine, a tester where you can see the power the brakes deliver, and what the difference is between left and right in %. Brakes are fine, also the replaced on rear right. Still have the vibration in the steering wheel at 60 miles/h when I touch the prake pedal soft. After pushing harder on the pedal, the problem is over.
We'll see if it's getting better in the coming days......
