More progress on the under seal. I will wire wheel any surface corrosion then stabilise it and cover with a PPG 2 pack epoxy, then cover with brushed on RAJ under seal, with the second coat sponged to mimic the original texture.
I recommend trying the spray gun. My 3m gun was pretty inexpensive and I found it will coat really well that way and its quick. You can build up areas like lap joints etc very easily for great long term sealing. Of course the downside is needing to clean the gun but as its water based it must not be too difficult.
I used sugar soap, a brush and a pressure washer to remove as much dirt and grease as possible. It’s clear that Porsche paints the underseal with body colour paint so the correct finish would be Grand Prix White. At some point I need to not overthink this. I will finish it in gray underseal and road dirt will soon make it all look the same. I have some lacquer paint and will make an effort in the wheel well. It won’t last like 2k though.
The areas were small and rust light so I used a small wire wheel on a Dremel. I followed up with a rust coverter/primer and then a 2 pack epoxy. I have an underseal gun and will see if I use it.
More progress. I bought a cheap underseal gun. It works off a small home compressor. I roughed up the epoxy with a red Scotchbrite, then masked up and sprayed. When it dries, I will brush to the edges. Too easy.
