Kris- that's just awesome. Thanks for the support!

Ken- would love a lift, but the market has to stop pretending to go up, and just go up! Or, I gotta sell like 3000 tshirts...lol. And I don't want to be a tshirt guy. So that's not happenen...I just did the shirt cuz all the guys around the shop wanted one...and the logo is cool...

The Alabama car, had an old fabspeed dual outlet exhaust, with the left side being a straight tip that opened toward the ground - rather than having a proper left hand matching tip. this caused lots of exhaust to build up in the engine compartment -and therefore gets sucked into the heating system through all the tiny 25 year old heater pipe cracks....

So we sourced a modified OEM left hand bumper section and sent it off to be fixed properly and painted to match - unfortunately john has a tough color - so off the entire bumper came and all three done simultaneously to match. Gets reinstalled next week. this is going to be awesome...

Further - and a shout out to the guys at Fabspeed.com - Johns tip is the old version they used to make - absolutely beautiful production. heavy stainless, no rolled tip, just solid and made like a piece of jewelry. they don't exist - so when we went to look for a matching left hand tip - they were stumped - but the owner of fabspeed remembered the old tips, and found one he had there...perhaps the last one in existence...and gave it to john almost at cost, just to make his exhaust correct. fantastic service guys....way to go....

starting back up in the morning - unfortunately - I bought a set of Michelin PS2 tires and I'll have to switch to my snows and take my Cups out to have the Michelins mounted tomorrow - so not likely doing any major work on mikes car tomorrow. Sometimes its just all about me!

in other news - the hardware should be back - http://www.delsplating.com/zinc-cobalt-plating.html

lets hope it worked out ok - I haven't seen pics yet.

A question for you or others lurking. I have fitted new spring plates and refurbed my rear shocks. I need to get a new alignment, for which I'm proposing driving to the shop. Is there any possible damage that a badly aligned vehicle can do to tyres etc?

I wore out a brand new front tire with very very bad toe in a 40 miles drive. that's the worst I ever experience on a bad alignment. tho it was on a rear wheel drive Japanese car.

depends how bad and how far you are driving - I wouldn't worry too much - get yourself set up as well as you can at home - using strings isn't a bad idea- eyeball it if you have to - and then just be careful driving if the setup is way off - cuz the car won't be safe at speed...

I drove johns (the alabama car) with the thing waaaaaaaay out of alignment while I went to look for someone to do the corner balancing and alignment. worst thing you can do is crash, second worse is uneven wear of the tires, but that would take a looooooong time...

Thanks, it's only 7km at 50km/hr so I should be fine by the sound of it.

Just eyeball the toe on the jackstands. Sight down the front wheels to the rear wheels and adjust to get a good "plane" on both sides. I've done this on other cars and gotten really close (withing a 1/10 of a degree); certainly close enough to drive to the shop and get them to properly do an alignment.

EDIT: Sorry, I realize now you didn't mess with the front end....

I did the control arm bushes but was very careful with the eccentric cam. I will line and eye ball this before I drive though.
