That’s for sure. He bought a Ferrari last year for $70m. Yes, $70 Million. Floormats are apparently very profitable.

I hear you. I honestly feel bad for the guy that was bidding against him. He’s probably a normal guy who really wanted the car but didn’t know that he was going up against someone with very deep pockets.

Be on the lookout for a nice set of used RUF’s, I’m sure they will pop up for sale somewhere.
I said this all along. Of the ten or so 964's I know that sit in pieces waiting to become singers, only 2 maybe 3 fit that bill. The rest needed a little TLC at best to become nice examples.

Sadly I think this is going to happen more to nice cars. I watched the Jay Leno’s Garage where he was talking to one of the guys from Singer. They talked briefly about how some buyers are bringing their own cars and how Singer also helps their customers locate vehicles.

Obviously this is a very affluent customer base. I think more of client base is going to want a nice car to start with instead of one of the a shells that’s sitting outside in their storage lot.

Not the case at all. I bought my 40,000 mile 1992 C2 in October from a local shop with Singer connections. If I hadn't bought it, they were going to. I was told that they had orders for 70 cars and were buying all the decent cars they could find.

I feel lucky every time I look at my car! It's got a sunroof, so it's obviously not worth very much.

They've been buying cars for several years, at one point about 6-7 years ago, the word on the street was they were buying every 964 in the country under $20k - sight unseen.

Based on the photos of their storage facility that were circulating not that long ago, I don't doubt it.

From the contacts I have in Cali, Autobahn has a contract with Signer, They have a huge inventory of 964 used parts. I called them they seem very nice, an alternative to LA Dismantler, Autobahn is San Diego Porsche car dismantler. 619-444-3229.

I'm not a LA Dismantler fan. Dealing with the guy at Autobahn is a dream in comparison. I've bought a few things from him as advertised and shipped safely.

I felt bad for him too. Poor guy, probably stretching his target a bit to get this car and it wasn't going to happen no matter what. And then -- "oh hey, i got the car you were dreaming of and willing to pay handsomely for... i'm going to chop it all up and keep the chassis."

Last I heard that number had grown to 35k... that was last year sometime IIRC.

There's not a vehicle on the planet I want more than a DLS Singer... I'll have at least the "base" Singer at some point before I die.

you are correct. I’m sure those Ruf wheels will end up on his eBay page eventually. I can’t remember his name, but he’s a really nice guy and very organized. Most of his stuff ends up on his eBay page. He’s located in El Cajon.

I’ve visited their place a few times to get some replacements for my car and yes Autobahn is excellent to work with. Mike lets me go through their entire inventory to find exactly what I want. Honestly buying some trim pieces used are far better than buying new unless you’re buying in pairs. The older parts can be selected to match the patina of rest of the car so it doesn’t look out of place. I wouldn’t be surprised if the RUF Wheels end up there unless the buyer of that 964 already has a friend lined up to buy them.

^^ Prices are far from reasonable in many cases.

This 100%. Not a single car on the planet I want more. McLaren F1 is real close.
