That seller is notorious for digitally enhancing every photo. There was a thread on Pelican where the seller claimed he didnt "photoshop" any of the pictures. Of course he just used a different program than photoshop to enhance the photos and its obvious. His contention was he didn't lie because it wasn't "photoshop"

It is hard to tell from pictures. Although both my amazon green cars carry paint code 39A or internal N7N7 vs this car which carries 37Z. I know mine is amazon but apparently there are two versions of the color one is urethane and the other latex. They switched to water based paints in 93 IIRC. These colors can vary from car to car. These are also pearlescent paints and thus change depending on light.

I have seen many variations of this color as i have with cobalt. The interesting thing is I have seen cobalt factory paint on some cars that barely color shift vs mine which shifts many shades from blue to purple to even pinkish in low setting sunlight.

I would guess this is a lighting/camera issue but greens seems to think this seller is someone to stay away from but in any case I would always have a PPI done no matter who is selling.

Default Luxsport

I have searched and read all of the cautionary comments on RL about Luxsport. Admittedly most had no details, which makes me wonder how many of those comments were actually first hand vs "i heard from a friend....". Regardless, if you had a full PPI done by an indy that came back acceptable, would that resolve your concerns, or do you think there could still be hidden issues that would keep you away? Thank you.

There are a number of frequent posters to this 964 forum who have been burned by them. There were a number of lengthy threads about their misadventures with these guys which have since been removed as part of the settlement between the buyer and Lux.

Yes, a PPI was done by a supposed indi shop in the area.

Their prices these days are not very competitive. If they have a car you really want, I suggest going their first to see it. Before even paying for a PPI. They have to be buried in a lot of their inventory as the market has moved down and they still have the same cars.

The owner used to post here and on Pelican trying to defend his business. They used to write a lot of very misleading text in their listings too. "1 owner car... just purchased out of a collection.... always a California car"... stuff like that. Of course its pretty easy to check that stuff when the car is still listed on the site of a Mercedes dealer in Florida they bought it from. To their credit they've gotten better at at least keeping the text fairly truthful.

I'll leave it at that or I'll get another hate PM from them. Which car are you looking at?

Nice looking Targa. The problem with his theory is that by the time this car hits 40 years old if you would have taken that same 60 grand and put it in a simple S&P 500 index fund you'll have a lot more than the $100,000 he is talking about, at least based on historical returns. Not saying its not worth $60k grand just saying his example is not making it attractive as an investment.

Buying cars for investment purposes just doesn't make sense and it will be nice when speculators drop out of the market. Having said that, it would be nice to know that your hobby (car) isn't making a significant dent in your wallet beyond the maintenance and insurance.

Oh I agree... 12 months ago or more when people started talking about collector cars and an asset class it was time to start shorting the market in them. No one would write me a credit default swap on their collection. I was willing to pay for the right to be short collector cars.

Default Yep

Yep, he purchased the vehicle. He is a nice guy and honest. He is welcome to use the photos. Oddly that is the same reason I sold it, I think it belongs in a collection somewhere I was scared to mess it up.

Look closer at the photos of that one. The car looks pretty beat up. They've dyed the seats and door panels and they dont match well, nor do they match the leather on the inner door handles. Almost like they just said screw it and didn't feel like dying some spots.

If you look at the Carfax the car moved a grand total of 20 miles between 2001 and 2008. Then from march of 2012 until the present time its moved a grand total of 21 miles. I think its pretty clear the odo has not been working. For the record, through those dates the owners managed to kept it registered every year in Florida. Each years DMV renewal is shown on the Carfax strangely no mileage is reported with those renewals.

The car has also been on line for 293 days, well at least as of today. If I had to buy a car from those guys (thank goodness I don't), I would pass on this one it looks like a total turd.
