I am in touch with seller but not entirely sure the story checks out. I am willing to trust the system though...

What do you think?

Talk to the seller on the phone if your haven't. Your conversation with him/her should tell you allot. 0 feedback and a $1000 non refundable deposit scare me along with the misaligned Carrera 2 script. I've also heard www.techweenie.com service is great. GL.

LA is big, there will be lots of guys who can PPI. I think the question is do you trust them to be through and not be convinced of the condition by the shop that brings it to them.

I have dealt with DV Mechanics in LA. Dorian was one of the original Singer engineers. Small shop that knows these cars well.

As Anthony mentioned, ask for additional pictures as well as a closeup of the blue sticker at the base of the hood.
It also looks like the rocker gaskets are painted over and the carpet looks odd I will bet it has been recarpted also

My friends 964 turbo in Midnight blue had never had any paint work period including the bumpers. Very rare to see but being Midnight blue as most I have seen the lower rockers are color coordinated from the factory. It would appear that darker colors were painted body color and lighter colors had the lower portions painted matte black. I don't know where gray falls into play but I believe they should be painted black.

Is it just me or the lighting but do they black rubber trim pieces separating the rear bumper and along the top of the rockers appear to be painted? I would expect more contrast. I would also expect to see more orange peel in the paint. Will be interesting to see what meter readings come back as.

BTW those lower rockers are definitely body color.
Cobalt as usual spot on, black and midnight blue I can confirm no matte black on original paint cars, but every other color I have seen including red, grey (including PTS linen grey) are matte black. Easy enough to do after the fact I suppose, just order a set of rocker clips before you start.
After looking closer, I think the rocker seals are ok even though a few of the photos show lack of contrast. That alone would be a deal breaker for me if the paint shop was that callous.
I guess it comes down to this, do you want a 964 in a rare color? If so, those defects may be palatable for you. For me, I am super picky on early cars esp those with the known head sealing issue (aluminum intake), less so on the later ones since they are so incredibly rare.
All of them are getting more expensive though.

Quick update.
Bill is awesome and was able to go see the car in person.
The sum of it all is that it is probably a $38k car. There is definitely some paint work that was done... and done pretty badly. There is also a mileage discrenpency. The interior doesn't show as nice as in the pics.
There is no proof that the head gasket was done so a compression test at TRE was recommended by bill.
That said it starts fine, sounds good, pulls strong and steers straight. Maybe a good driver...
It is already above 41k a day before the auction ends. Not sure I will enter a bid race...since it probably will require thousands of dollars to do preventive work and other paint correction.
I love the color combo though.

Thank you again guys, really appreciate the support.

I am glad to read your review of Bill's work. As I said earlier, I highly recommend him. The small amount of money he charges is worth every penny.

RSA to me has NO additional value unless it's a no sunroof car. Its the same as a C2 with manual steering.

But no sunroof from the factory would be cool.

Unfortunately it would probably be a no sale at the current $84k price. My guess is it will be bid higher.

I agree. As with eBay, much of the BaT bidding seems to occur in the final ~30 mins or so.
Mike's '93 RSA (also white/black, 58k mi, minor paint/bodywork, LSD/radio only) was bid to $95k in October, so curious to see where this ends up.
