The silly little question thread ...

I don't have a pic but it would help to know what MY your car is. The earlier cars used a pin switch that mounts near the light the wire is power feed and IIRC the switch grounds itself to the body. When the hood is up it completes the circuit. The later cars switched to a microswitch in the locking mechanism itself.

Well here are a couple of pics:
Please excuse the dust!!
Clearly what I'm not showing is any sign of the microswitch. Think I'm an MY 91.There was a connector into which the short bit of wiring seemed to plug quite naturally (sorry - out of shot). Which side of this does the switch live on?
Can't think why none of this is present; perhaps a PO was working hard on weight-saving?
Thanks for your help guys.

I found some pictures of what you are looking for. The wiring is as shown and it would appear yours is connected. The micro switch in the hood latch can fail or sometimes needs a contact cleaner. I have seen them fail both open and closed circuits.
Hope this helps.

'90 C4 targa
I know that the targa roll bar cover can be removed by undoing some bolts in the rear wheel wells. Is there a "How to" thread on here that would take me through the process? I've searched. But, in vain.
Thanks

Does anybody know what this "dead" inch of travel is at the top of the clutch pedal is about? I've bled the clutch a few times now with no improvement.
After the inch of travel, the clutch feel is normal.

me too
Im really interested in this clutch pedal issue too - mine does the same. New clutch, bled etc.
Mine doesnt always pop back right up though. It disengages, but doesnt come all the way to end of travel. HOWEVER - after a 10 min drive, or so, it does, and then the 'dead spot' disappears! (Opposite symptoms to the roll pin issue!)
Anyone?

What should that wire (by the gas tank strap) be connected too?
Thanks in advance.

I asked this question a while back and if I recall it hooks up to the headlight sprayer or something that is found on European cars but not available in the US. So basically, don't worry it's not supposed to be hooked up.

Thanks Mike.
I'll take that item off of the "worry" list. It's close to the crash sensors, so just wanted to make sure...
Best,
Udo
