I have been contemplating the 1960's aluminium trim for my car as I love the classic look...debating on leather, wood or something else...yours is going to look amazing and the seats and door cards will tie it all together. Absoulutely stunning...thanks for taking us along on the journey...I have learned a bunch and may have to borrow some inspiration for my long running project.

I'm pleased you have found the thread useful. I would stay away from wood, although Porsche did resurrect it as an option for a period in the late '80's but it's all a matter of personal taste and there are no rights and wrongs, fashion has to start somewhere ha!
I'll keep an eye out for your project.
Good luck,
Paul
Does the trim just glue on top of the factory leather?
Or do you remove the factory trim and replace with this?
Or do you remove the factory trim and replace with this?
In most cases it's vinyl and not leather, there are very few 964's that have leather on the dash fascia. The alloy trim is stuck over the vinyl with a good quality adhesive, I can let you know what John uses if it helps?
Cheers,
Paul

Very close now
Hi All,
The rear panel, black & red leather. I steered clear of any red stitching on the black leather as I'm keeping it as simple as possible since we have plenty of other features already.

That handbrake. amazing work
Thank you. Yes, it's usually the little things which are the most difficult to get right. John, got this spot on.
Can't wait to see it all together
Thanks! Here's a little something in the meanwhile

Hi Chaps,
I called in to see John the way home and drop a part off, so I thought you may like to see where we are up to.
Another E-Type, there several in various stages of their builds.

There is still quite a lot of smoothing and fettling to be done with a heat gun but it's looking pretty good so far.

The dash is in but there wasn't enough light to get a decent photo so more on that later but the door caps are under way.

Hi All,
The little piece my son Edward designed for the passenger side of the dash has arrived from the manufacturer, made in solid silver. Sadly they weren't able to get the Redtek engine build number 1094 on due to the small size of the piece but the rest of it looks pretty good.

In it's raw state:

And after a little polishing:

I'll be giving one final polish tonight before it's ready to position on the dash. It's another idea borrowed from Singer although I've elected to keep it in silver

The dash top look nice but apologies about the light, I'll do some better photos of it when I have her home.

I'm really pleased with how the centre console has worked out, the gear boot need to be made yet.

John made me a passenger footrest to match the Rennline one on the driver's side, we've decided to make a backing which need to be painted to stop debris collecting behind.

All the pedals and the real Rennline footrest have been painted again to all match.
Cheers,
Paul

Absolutely gorgeous Paul, so great to see the interior coming back together and all of that beautiful upholstery work and amazing detail together.
An incredibly well thought out and detailed approach to the interior, well done!

It's taken a lot longer than I anticipated but it's been worth it, I'm really happy with the results, if you can call it that when it isn't finished :roll eyes:
Hi Guys,
A couple of the gator boot and shift lever. There is a reason this gator boot is longer that required at the moment and all will become apparent sometime next week but this is going to get me going for the weekend at least.

Apologies for the photo quality (more later) but you get the idea.
