Jev, I've got a herd of cats in my bag, 97 F1 GTR is just one of many

jack.pe, sorry to disappoint, not mine, wish it was though,

kos11-12, have no idea the weight now, it has Mille Miglia Cup 1's, missing the front wheel arch liners, the front subframe floor panel, has no aircon pump, condensor rad or piping but I need to check if the evaporator is still fitted.

Guessing I must be down to 1180ish kgs, have about 20kgs more to unbolt before changing to lightweight parts.

The PO had an upgraded chip and cup bypass fitted, also rolling road set up by Wayne Schofield, I have a dyno plot showing 278bhp

Is the race battery you have fitted 16A and 1kg, who makes it and have you had any problems with it keeping enough charge?

mine is the small 16 amp Odyssey PC 680 @ 7 kg , I would like to replace it with a lithium one, they are lighter and smaller so more room in the front boot and they last so the extra cost is worth it....
I drive the car week ends, sometimes not for 2/3 weeks, I have a cut off so I always disconnect ... only when left over 2 days...
this battery can keep his charge for weeks, even more when under 2 years, I have a few of those since a few years ....

Varley Top Red or Odyssey, they are the same, they start the engine very easy !

have you removed the larger of the two hooters/horns? Gotta be about 1.2kg with the bracket
Gotta keep one though! Can ditch the alarm horn which is also there infront of rt front tire behind w arch cover.
And do you really need side skirts - must weigh 2.5 kg each and car looks quite serious w/o them.
Just thinking aloud lol

Also if you remove the plastic door moisture seal behind the door card, you're officially bonkers.

thanks for the ideas HiWind,

I enjoyed a few beers, some biltong and pizza with 3 of your countrymen last fri., had a great time, I need to get down to your part of the world one day as you guys know how to have fun

Had a quick look at the horns, you're right the big one has got to go and so does most of the steel bracket. Could see the alarm but I'll take the wheel off next time for a better look.

The side skirts are a vital part of the unique 964 look so I'll keep them. Will replace with some lightweight carbon ones later on.

Plastic door mositure seal membranes are long gone, forgot to weigh them.

Just weighed the stock airbox assy, came in at 1.50kgs will ditch the airbox cover when I find my roll of tank tape so I can fix the air filter in place

Inspired by your weight loss program, I started my own for a winter project. I didn't need to go too far and I'm already down 306 g. I've been using your weights to calculate what else needs to come out of my car. Thanks for documenting all of this.

Glad to be of help, there is plenty of weight to remove if you look hard enough.

Not seen my 964 for weeks now as a bit busy with work, don't expect to see it again for at least a couple of months.

So to try and add something interesting to my build thread here is another past car project I helped to make happen.

Practice on tarmac at Mojave Air Force base

Salt Fever

The Final Run, Top speed reached was 397.360 KPH, not quite 400 but still a record

Was gutted to find out I could have been out on the salt but didn't find out until it was all over

For me Bonneville is an iconic place on the same level as Spa, Le Mans, Indianapolis Speedway, Silverstone, Monza, Pikes Peak. These are the birth places of motorsport

glad to see you're updating again Ahab - you're still hunting the light whale!
Now you're talking about salt pans, fast and records ... and coming down to SA
... maybe you've heard of this ...paleease ... 400kph isn't fast

I hope to see you there!

its actually a hoot despite lack of bumps, humps or curves
