LOL, I'm sure you drew quite a few puzzled looks with this setup. Great trip, thanks for sharing.

After another Sun. afternoon of picking off bits,

342g pair of engine lid gas struts, mtg pins and clips
702g fuel tank plastic protection shroud
98g wire plastic shroud under VIN in front trunk
189g ABS unit plastic shroud
24g wire plastic shroud between battery and front bulkhead
37g fuel cap flexible flap cover
2669g engine bay heater fan unti, ducting, mtg bolts
1631g engine bay sound deadening

Weight removed running total 24.29kg

Can someone direct me to a recent thread on here that had a link to a list of weight for various parts, I have searched and searched but can't find it..

My car already seems to be missing the rear alumnium bumper beam, engine under tray and RH exhaust shroud and I'd like to include the weight into my running total.

Have you weighed the old girl yet to see what the actual starting weight is?

Sorry Alex, I have no idea

I know of a C2 in similar spec. weighed in at 1306kg with the fuel light on. Until knowing this I was using a start weight of 1375kg.

My car is already missing the engine undertray, RHS exhaust undertray and rear alumnium bumper beam and can't find any reliable weights for these parts so I'm now completely lost at what I should use as a start weight.

To be honest I'm not worried as hitting my target end weight will be what counts.

Doesn't matter I guess - You've weighed the bits that have come off so when it does go on the scales just add them on top for a start weight.

Always nice to know as they seem to vary quite a bit out of the factory.

Engine undertray is only there to catch oil anyway!

this weekend was so damn hot, high 30's so I jacked up the rear of the 964 and had a lie down in the shade under the engine

planned to replace the starter motor with a lightweight high torque unit but my extensive tool kit said 'no', instead I had a good look around and spotted more missing parts such as no cat, rear aluminium bumper beam and mounting tubes, engine under tray. Must be 15-20kgs of missing stuff

I also removed some more parts.....

1888g heater flaps, jubilee clips and donkey dick to heat exchanger
1947g metal tubes and jubilee clips from heat exchanger to engine bay tin
708g various engine undertray mounting brackets
89g spoiler mechanism plastic shroud

Weight removed running total 28.92kg

Removed few more non-essential items, must be doing it right as Mrs. Ahab remarked "everytime I get in this car a little more luxury is missing"

0.414kg interior trim cappings below side rear windows
3.305kg rear bulkhead internal sound deadening (car louder but not annoyingly so but this may change when I remove the rear seats)
2.425kg interior rear wheel arch trim
0.615kg inner door sill carpets
0.727kg drivers footwell carpet
0.141kg carpet behind pedals
0.672kg front passenger floor carpet
2.204kg front passenger floor sound deadening

Weight removed running total 39.423kg

Did a test drive retracing a route to the top of the 1611m/5365ft high Vrsic Pass in Slovenia, this time minus the weight saved and swapped my dad who was passenger last time for my 10yr old son. Car this time is roughly 100kg lighter.

Its not the fastest alpine pass in the world as the corners are tight with cobbles and the straights are short. Like any high incline mountain road you feel all the weigh going up and down as it has nowhere to hide.

This car is starting to come alive and I'm only just getting started!

Started tackling the sound deadening and carpet glue removal, what a nasty unpleasant job.

My car came with a few missing parts, can anyone post up weights for the following parts but only if you have weighed them yourself please as I'm trying to keep my weight list as accurate as possible

Rear alumnium bumper beam
Rear bumper beam mounting tubes
Engine undertray

These items are all off the car so I'll post the weights in a bit.
