I took nearly 3 years doing mine on/off in the garage & then down to bodyshop for paint/ mechanical stuff as work/family stuff took priority so it's no big deal how long it takes as its being done right this time round and as I'm sure it's a keeper this time Gaz???
I'm looking for a good Pre 67 bug for my son now ( 14 yrs ) so we can rebuild it together as he wants a bug as soon as he can drive & has all ready picked his colour/trim combo....plus I miss tinkering in the mancave now it's all done to be honest...better get me skates on if the 64 took 3 years!!

hi Gazc2,
Just read your thread and must say it's excellent but...after months of deliberation I decided to return to the air cooled scene (Porsche of course) and I did think of going IB but thinking back to my 1983 SC that I owned for 8 years and the work required (rust) to restore it......No
993 is out of budget for a good one so 964 it had to be.( I prefer the upright headlights anyway)
I have two viewings in Manchester at the weekend coming C4 and C2 ( four hour journey from Edinburgh!) but after reading your thread...![Confused](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
What condition was yours when you bought it ,did you know it needed this amount of work, were there any sings of corrosion when you viewed, What should I expect are they all going to suffer this corrosion ??
your doing a great job there keep it up
cheers

Steve,
I was aware of the work needing done to mine and the purchase price reflected this although that was just before the prices started to take off, the windscreen bubbling was obvious as was the rear quarter although that was only a couple of small bubbles and was a bot worse than expected once the sill was off also with being red it was a bit like a tartan rug with the different shades. pretty common rust area`s on 964`s however plenty good ones out their although this will be reflected in the price, the three big ticket items Paint, suspension, engine rebuild will all determine asking price regardless you need to budget for ongoing expenditure.
good luck with the search
Gary

Thanks Gaz,
I'll keep you posted, one of the two sounds pretty good so here's hoping![Cool](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Do you know the car up here for sale on PH white C4 ?
There doesn't seem to be too many up here in Scotland, it appears from this web site they are all in Liverpool and London![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
cheers

THAT looks good I see the windscreen slipped in with new seal also you put the scuttle to wing seal in at body shop. I have to do mine at home lol.
I will advise masking tape low tack quality and mask up areas where you will be working like around door handles and once you fit the handle then remove mask up next area etc it will save your paint from scuffs scratches.
I am in the same boat now trying to figure out where everything goes I have a soft top to contend with as well. It would also be a good idea if you can get an extra pair of hands to help with holding stuff while you align and clip in etc.
good luck!
I am slowly putting mine back together.
