Is it the same car that was on there a couple of months ago with Brumos stripes?

Have to agree the car looks stunning. I think it's worth that figure because it always cost a lot more to do it yourself.

I understand the project concept but surely £75k on top of the car cost in 2008 (and beyond) would have been better spent on a mint 964 rs. Probably £40k for a good one back then given the financial crisis

Not sure I agree with that,

RS 964s are expensive to begin with - there is a guilt to putting miles on them. Especially the many non track ones... Whereas an RS'd 964 can be driven to no end without guilt - knowing that milage doesn't effect value in the same way that it does to RSs. At the same time the modifications you do to a 964 employ technologies that weren't available at the time. Like Motec systems, latest engine specs through decades of development, latest suspension technologies etc, etc.

A well RS'd 964 is more talented than a stock RS on 20 year old tec IMO.

Now residual value is a different issue. If you're looking to keep your money then don't modify. Buy a stock RS. If you want something less precious, bespoke and with contemporary tec - modify.

As is always the case - you'll never see all your money back when modifying a 964, but many of us do it.

Frank - the guy might has well have taken £50k-£60k and set it on fire. No rational argument can justify it unless you have more money than sense. Fortunately cars as a hobby are completely irrational

i see both sides though id say if you want to RS a car then you have to work within a budget or you may as well buy the real thing as its dead money otherwise not that i want to bring this conversation to the 'good investment' arguments that happen on other forums.
For me out the two of those cars at RPM id have the red one despite the cash thats been thrown at the white one as is indicated by the price of both of them what has been spent on the white one makes it worth no more than the red one.
If i had 70-80k to spend on a 964 id just go ahead and buy an RS but hey thats me

I disagree - it all depends how you look at it. A lot of people buy brand new cars at around 70K plus and a lot will depreciate by circa 30% in the first year alone... I'm not saying this is an intelligent way to buy a car - I certainly would not buy first hand but there are a lot of people who spend on their hobbies not as investments but as a fun factor. An expensive one at that.

On another note, a lot of us (I included) don't have 70K out right to buy an RS. We'd rather spend less or even the entire amount over years of ownership. A lot of us enjoy the expensive process of doing it ourselves and bespoke. Counting aside - I never ever see myself (circumstances permitting) selling my car. I bought and modified it for myself. It has my blood, sweat and tears - I didn't do what I've done to my car for another but purely for myself. My investments however are a different story as they are investments - my car isn't.

As for the white one over the red one or visa versa. There are undoubtedly significant differences between the two. For one superficially the white one has had a full rebuild IIRC. I assume that the white ones premium is associated by it needing absolutely nothing.... that all the bushes are perfect, that there is no corrosion what so ever on the heat exchangers, that all the brake/ oil etc lines are immaculate. My point being is that the descriptions on there are brief and there are probably untold amounts of quality differences between the two.

Finally - I believe strongly that the prices are reasonable with the proviso that the sum of all the modifications would cost you more were you to do it yourself. And that I believe makes the sale prices accurate. On the other hand that red Targa on BBS wheels pricing is NUTS!
