I don't understand the so called need for a rebuild based on mileage. Mine's done 80k miles without one and there are many well into the 100s without a need for one.

I was being purely sarcastic. Mileage has nothing whatsoever to do with a need for a rebuild as you say.

OK , couple of interesting 964s located up in NW of England , not advertised.

First up , a 964 Targa Florio , last of the 964s on an L plate , a C2 manual and one of only 5 UK cars that year. Black / Linen . Will get round to putting pic on L90 facebook page. Price around £30k

Next up , a 964 Cup car , 1991 , first reg in Italy , very low kilometres , not cheap at 6x price for the targa but unmolested and matching numbers. GP white . Might be going to Essen later in week so move quick if interested.

I happened to see these while out on a social call to a NW independent...Tech9......no financial interest

I'm hoping to be in the 964 market soon when my Gen 2 Cayman S sells. Was hoping to get a good example C2 manual coupe for around £30k, but that seems to be drifting away!

I know I'm not going to get a pristine, concours show car for that, but there aren't that many C2 964's around that figure. Only these two which I was hoping someone might know a bit more on:

First up this one, no history though from 89k-134k, but price reflects this?

Then this one, which I have viewed:

Not much history to confirm mileage over the last 5 years since the rebuild. Tempted to get this one professionally inspected, it drove great (only 964 I've driven however), but not sure about the history of this car again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think they are both priced about right , I like the green one later model and a cracking colour a decent inspection should flag up any issues with either one ,
Have a good look at the widscreen scuttle, leading edges of wings and around the sharks fin especially on the pass side.

Green one is worth a second look I would say

good luck with the search

Thanks.

I wasn't sure on the green until I saw it in the flesh, really nice.

There were a couple of small patches of rust visible on it. Could that be an indication that there is a lot more underneath?

I sold the black one about a year ago for 12k and it needed some love. Engine was strong but used some oil, check the rear left bumper mount as that needed some serious attention along with window surrounds and lower rear wings.

I know of a very low miles metalic black c4 manual non sunroof lhd for 35(ish) if thats of any intrest, pm me if you want any details.

This one has bugged me a bit since it was listed. I thought all '93s had the aero mirrors and airbag steering wheel. Maybe I'm mistaken or it was a running change during the model year? Not that it matters really, I'm always an advocate for buying the best condition car you can over color, year, etc. Still, I'd want to know what I was getting were I the buyer. Best of luck on the search

There's a good chance that the 93 car is an earlier car that was registered later in 1993. This happened a lot in the UK at the time because Porsche GB had more stock than demand. Unfortunately the pics in the ad do not allow us to check the other tell tail signs e.g. different rear seat release buttons. And of course the VIN would be the best way to check the true model year of this car.

Tha fact that it's on D90's and has Flag mirrors would suggest it's an 90-91 car (I think C4 only in 89?). I haven't heard of anyone replacing Aero mirrors with Flags, so they're likely original.

The D90's were taken off another 964 he's got in stock and judging by the marks on the door, it has had aero mirrors on previous to the flags.

Jevvy, did you sell it privately may I ask? The ad says its had paint recently, so I'm guessing all the rust will be sorted?

After a C2 really, thanks though.
