Looks good Steve, who did the build for you? and what did you have done?

Do you have any pics of the engine back in the car?

By the looks of it the tinware is new? PM me who you used for powercoating, thanks

Norm, mine had a full rebuild at the start of last year. All work was done by Unit 11. They send out the stuff that needs powder coating and passivating. I had one new tin fitted, all the rest that could be done with engine in the car, had been replaced by me over the previous two years. The full story of the rebuild and lots of pictures are on the PCGB forum:

Very nice Steve and a good writeup too, did Unit 11 look after you in price? as these builds can be very expensive, depending on spec. Hope shes running nicely too.

What do you guys think about carbon detailing on the engine? heater by pass pipes, etc.

They look after everyone the same in my experience. They do their best for each customer e.g. I had a broken engine shroud and crumbling cat, both of which they found good second hand replacements for which saved me a fair few quid. Their base price for a full rebuild is very reasonable but it's all the extra things they find that makes the bill grow. So much so that I had to cancel the change to a LWF and RS clutch (but that will be going in this spring).

A friend who races in the club championship who recently drove it on an instruction lap for me said he was shocked how much more grunt it had compared to when he drove it pre-rebuild

Hope your all well out there in the Porsche world, been too busy to update the thread, but here goes lots of pictures to upload.

Amazony went back to R-Tek Motorsport next door, where JJ did wonders finishing off some of the welding on the cage.

Here she is last left off with the cage all done except the doorbars and the harness points, having eventually deciding on some Schroth seatbelts.

Here is where JJ starts!

Because we weren't going down the route of a genuine 964RS cage, our doorbars were set a little lower for my ease of entry and the room for my elbows.

JJ starts the measure-up...

Please dont be put off by the surroundings of JJ's workshop, its the skills the boy has! The bar is shaped and neatly fits snug ready to weld...

Yes, lots, including me. They did mine when they fitted the KWV3 suspension and have mildly tweaked it for me since. I'm over the moon with the way mine handles (it's a mild track set up). Don't expect fancy laser alignment technology though. Danny uses the old fashioned gauges, mirrors and string. He used to do the geo setups for Tech9's race cars. Any you're only looking at a couple of hours labour which will set you back £100 + VAT.

My car has never handled better than when Danny set it up recently.

I remember when Danny was working at Tech9 for Phil Hindley, heard good things about him and Unit 11.

The next task JJ helped on was making the harness points on the inner side of the seat, using the existing outer seatbelt point. Obviously, reference can be found on the 964 handbook, together with where the seamweld on the RS section are.
