Of course - even gave that a trial run today. :-)

Saw a white 964 (very briefly, mid-corner!) too - for a moment, I thought you were going to say it was you.

Looking good John, can't wait. Had a trial run out and about in mine too today. RS day at Oulton Park this Friday to get the juices flowing, with your Welsh trip as the main course!

Default welsh run

Hi,

I was on top of the great orme today,Lovely looking over at the Snowdon range.

Sunny and warm but loadsa snow still on the top of the mountains.

One 993'er waved at us on our way through Bagillt, but not many aircooled cars out.

I'll be at the RS day Friday also, but only as ballast in a 500bhp 996 Turbo with

911 legend.

I call it a kettle and it pi**es him off ,but hey he's missing the 964 on the quiet.

see you soon

Gaz,

Hi all,

Never been to one of these before, the 964 has been at Ninemeister for the whole of last summer so it looks like a good opportunity to get it out. Count me in.

I have uploaded a map of the route that can be downloaded and printed off from THIS LINK. The triangular Red Route forms the so-called Evo Triangle.

Note that the Esso garage at Ruthin doesn't have super unleaded (last time I checked), but this is available at several petrol stations on the way there, and also at the Shell garage at Betws-y-coed, marked on the map.

As for directions, the road to take out of Denbigh starts as a small one-way street in the centre of town, on the left, just at the crest of the hill. The only other non-obvious turn is the B4501 on the Blue Route. This lies just after the National Watersports Centre.

There may well be a police presence at points around the route (including a helicopter, possibly), so take care and please drive responsibly. There are many stretches where visibility is such that you don't need to be too cautious, but when in doubt be careful, especially near farms and in villages. Also, be aware that NW police have at least one mobile speed camera concealed within a horsebox!

Some of the roads involved may lead you to question if you're on the right route, as they are narrow, some are frost-damaged and maybe even run through the odd farm (always on tarmac though) - the rewards will become apparent eventually and are worth waiting for!

Some of the roads also have treacherous corners, lying out of sight beyond a crest just at the fastest points - so don't get carried away!

Above all, go at a pace you are comfortable with and have fun.

John,

I'm getting some "encouragement" from Rob and Steve to come along so, perhaps, you could add me to your list. Steve reckons it's about 150 miles for me to get to your starting point so it's likely to be a stupid o'clock start!! I'll print off your map as a starter.

Regards

Dave

Just hope the weather holds, and I can still afford it after my 12k service which is turning out damned expensive (like 2-3 times more depending how much I have to get done). 20 year old cars eh? Who'd have em?
