3 questions... How do you get access to the header flange bolts on the model with the heat boxes? On the stock system there are holes passing through the heat exchangers.

Second question, how come on one side there are 2 bolt flanges and on the other side they use the 4 bolt flanges?

Third question: I am not looking at my car right now, but isn't there an oil line down there somewhere close to the headers? Does that need to be moved or temporarily disconnected to install this system?

Is there anything else that I am overlooking that would make this installation more difficult than taking off the old system?

Doug, I have not worked on a car that had exactly these headers, but a deep offset box wrench is very helpful when working on aftermarket heat exchangers. The 4 bolt flanges allow them to be bolted to 964 and 993 heads without having to "flip" the flanges. Someone with more knowlege will have to answer your question about the oil lines. Porsche changed the routing several times, and I'm not 100% sure where the lines go on a stock 964.

There is, but you take the headers out without having to touch that line... you do have to remove the header (left side) when replacing the oil line.

Do you know about the Header bolts? The ones that you access through the holes in the original heat exchangers are Allen Heads, not stud / nuts. So, is there room to insert those bolts under the heater box on the Fabspeed header, or do you install studs / something else?

The nuts you access thru the holes in the HE are exactly that, nuts, allen head nuts. I have never mounted an exhaust system like the Fabspeed, but just looking at it, it seems like a walk in the park compared to the stock ones, you have so much more room.

Dumb question from the rookie... Do you break the header bolts loose when warm / hot?

You spray them a couple of times with WD-40 or your favorite penetrating oil... if possible the night before you are going to work on it...

Mine came out easy, and I put some antiseize when they went back in place (now thinking about it, I am not sure if the antiseize work when used in the exhaust system ??? )... This was when I was replacing that oil line in the photo.

For the Fabspeed, I am not sure how is done or what space you have available when you get the ones with heat... no-heat look like a no brainer...

Hi, the total weight saved with our Kit With Heat over the stock is 43.1 Lbs. With the No Heat option, the saving is 47.55 Lbs. The full stock exhaust system on the 964 weighs 85.8 Lbs and the Fabspeed Header Muffler kit with heat weights 42.7 Lbs. There are some photos below showing the differences.
As for Installation, you will have no problem bolting up the new headers. You will just need a 13mm swivel head socket and it will be very straight forward.

humm... What do I do for gaskets? If I remember correctly, the stock headers have a groove for the crush ring.

What do you use on the Fabspeed to seal the headers? Stock crush rings? Can't tell from the photo if there is a groove in there for stock crush rings..

I am only asking because I got a set of stock crush rings in preparation for the swap... should have asked before spending the $$, I know...

Wachuko, you use the stock crush rings I just replaced all 6 on mine because a few were blown out from age If you do decide to replace them, use ZIMS they are CHEAP!

Do you guys still need a pic of the plug on the passenger side CO2 space??? I have the car lifted now for the final drop, and can take some if you need.

Alex, are the outlet pipes on the muffler also redesigned a diff size, or is it just the straights?
