Tail Light solution
Ok - We all have look for a way to make our tail light and center section a little darker. Well I think I may have stumbled across a solution for us. It works with a vinyl adhesive backed film that you place over the tail light. Currently I have just been playing with the tail light templates, but will do center section next.
It took me a while to get the template right and it still needs some final touching but I am pleased with the results. I have attached some pictures, the left tail light has the cover film on it, the right does not. The right has a lot of cracks and they will show thru the film - but the PINK IS ALL GONE-
What I was considering doing is once I get the center section template worked out - is make a couple of sets and send them to a few volunteers to test. I will need to write up instructions and put a little kit together. Install while easy - takes time and patients and the right tools - Would like feed back on how to improve from volunteers. Will probably be ready some time end of next week - Will post pictures of finished project.
The pictures don't really do the color justice as the red is better than in the photos - but you can see the difference -

The politicizing of the board is firstly really not appreciated. Secondly, give it a week or two and that will look just horrible imo.
If you want to fix your tailights then do the easy DIY that lasts for years:

Mine looked great right up until my cars untimely demise...

gus, hang in there with the experiment, man.
Yours may, or may not, work -- but for ease of application, I'll take a vinyl applique over a paint job every time.
Whatcha using as film, btw?
(I have some 3M vinyl protectant film on my car's front end that's remains undimmed, a year-plus after its application.)

Kahdmus - Took me about 30 minutes to install both tail lights - no mess, no paint, no sanding - easy clean up - Did not mean to push my political perspective here (was just on the car)- will remove on next pictures

I was planning on doing something similar with mine. I have new lights fitted and was thinking of adding a light tinted PVA stone guard to the rear lights to give some UVA protection and hopefully delay the inevitable fading/cracking.
