Tail Light solution
honestly this thread started out on how to help other members with their Porsche related taillight issue - not a word was mentioned about poiltics until you brought it up which does not make sense if you are tired of all the posts about politics. I want to hear about Porsches too no one else seemed to think this was a political thread.
Not only that you go onto trash Gus's idea without ever seeing it in person then go onto say how much better your idea is. Talk about partisan...

I am only a half-arsed DIYer, but I painted my faded lights with clear red and then clear lacquer as per the instructions given in earlier threads, and it turned out pretty darn good.
(If you want to have some fun with the politics, BTW, go the OT forum, where liberals regularly receive their beat-downs. The Porsche people seem to be a hugely dominant Republican/conservative group.)

Hmmm....trying to figure out where I mentioned anything about you exercising your right to free speech. I think my post was to Gus telling him that he didn't need appease you by only taking pictures of the right side of his car. You made an issue of a non-issue, and I defended the poster. The only sad thing about it is that it has taken Gus' post totally off topic. Sorry Gus.

Hi Gus; I recently applied the kit to my rear tail lights. It definitely requires a lot of patience but definitely lots so much better. A few lessons I learned: have a pin handy to get the soap out of these tiny air bubbles that you miss with the squeegy. It also helps on the raised areas. I used a hair dryer as well.
Definitely a much cheaper option than new tail lights.

didn,t dislike the rear reflector but the fade was spoiling the look & wanted to give the car a more modern feel , ,had it sprayed & glad i did , ,lights shine through no trouble , ,had the front ambers done as well , ,minimum paint, maximum lacquer

I don't see protectant film as detriment to sale's value.
I had my car's front custom wrapped in 3M clear bra at ModernImage in Miramar.
(I only did the front because that's all I could afford/justify against likely rock chips.)
But there were Daddy-Warbucks lined up to have their cars cocooned in the stuff. (That cost blew my mind!)
Tail lights, included.
(Those I saw while there, one black & one orange GT3 RS, Mclaren SLR, some FeeRaree thingawhosi.
Unfortunately, that black GT3 RS was consumed in San Diego's fires last year. Protectant film only takes ya so far...
And that's a Ferrari airbox you see in the foreground.)

I haven't read every single post (for obvious reasons), but has nobody tried polish.
I got my tail light lenses and faded plastics on my daily driver Honda looking like the day it came off the assembly line using Meguiar's Swirl Remover, a fine polish. You'll want to use an orbital buffer for moderately faded lenses. A faded lens, even when using a buffer, will take some time, so don't expect results in a matter of minutes.

Well the real reason is that the stock "out of the box lenses" are pinkish and not the rich red that we all want - So even if you polished you would still have the pinkish look - it is a factory issue for one reason or the other

Would a red bulb, if they are available, help?
