i think due to the helmet.you can very easily hit and shater the window.also if you ever wreck and the door is jam, they wil have to break your window and can get you hurt worst.
our track official will not let you out unless both windows are down.the is a good reason why proffecionals have nets on their windows.safety first.

I disagree strongly that its is very easy to shatter the side window with Your helmet. No doubt it is possible, but it is not likely to happen from even very inspired track driving.

In fact it is more likely that You will end up with the arms and maybe even the head poking out of the window opening in case of an accident.

If You end up in a crashed car and rescue personnel need to shatter the side windows to get You out, You could get hurt from the glass, but that is one reason why long sleeves are recommended.

And Your point with the safety nets on the race cars actually emphasize the importance of having windows or other means of containing You in the car in case of an accident. Only the race cars have nets instead of glass, as a better measure, but it is not likely that we "once-a-year-track-day-amateurs" are going to remove the side windows and installing nets. So we compromise and have windows.

Closing my answer with a picture of Guards Red 964 and getting the thread back on track (as if track day is off track )

here is pca drivers edd regulation:
WINDOWS:
Drive with the driver's side window down. We require that the passenger’s side window be down.
Drive with sunroof closed. Drive with all of your and your passenger's appendages inside the
car

New owner taking good care my old car

Still miss the old girl. Feel that I got the details all nailed down, like stance, Big Reds, clear signals and a great paint job.
