The wiring is simple, just tap into the harness on either side brake light. The tricky part is finding the bulb holders. On the 993 there is practically no room behind the center reflector. I tried many different options until I finally sourced out a 993 center reflector harness and was able to use that.
I found a harness for my current 993 but haven't had the opportunity to install it yet. Hopefully over the winter...

Had a look at the wiring for a 1995 model 911 Carrera (993)…
RPM signal at the ECU is pin 7, Black/Green
Expect you can also connect at the tacho guage. The wiring shows options for Rev Counter with and without on board unit. Both look to have the same tacho feed. The diagram I have is just too low res to read confidently. Looks like the tacho wire is a black wire with violet stripe. Would be good to get confirmation on it.
