Default Cup Car racing at its finest - Summit Point

You may know that in the NE there is a large contingency of 964 Cups that are raced on a regular basis and consistently set extremely fast times for their groups, often beating faster cars. Here is some video from Ron Savenor's 92 Cup running with Jeff Burger's 92 Cup at Summit point a few weeks back. Ron asked that I post his video. Enjoy.

That was a great video. The front & rear cameras give you a great view of what is happening. Burger & Savenor really pound on each other. I love the outside passes.

Thanks for posting.
I was lucky enough to have Ron take me out for a couple of sessions last year at Lime Rock.
You walk away with an appreciation for what these cars are capable of.

I worked turn 10 on Friday, turn 5 on Saturday, and turn 1 on Sunday. Watching these two cars battle it out on Saturday and Sunday during the sprints and enduros was the highlight of my weekend. Incredible.

What a great video. Looks like a back and forth battle. Its nice to see the older cars holding their own against the newer boys.

Seems strange now being "in" the cockpit of a Cup/CS with "only" a 7000rpm rev limit, eh Geoffrey?

Watching the video made me wonder how many 90-93 Cup cars we could get together for an International 964 Cup Challenge Race? We would be up for it in the Green Meanie, I'm sure that Mel would relish the opportunity to play with his and I have another friend PC who would probably bring his blue 92 Cup. Now wouldn't that be fun?

Colin, for sure...I haven't driven one lately, but I am doing one last track day with Bob next Friday so we'll see.

I'd love to see as many 964 Euro Cups in one place as possible. I count about 12 here in the NorthEast USA and would like to get a magazine to do an article on the racing for that class GTC-1. We have a 2 day open track event in May every year at the historic Watkins Glen Raceway. If you'd like to come, I'll cover your entry fee. I'm hoping to have arrangements made for the magazine article.

All you guys with U.S.964 cup cars should consider racing gtc1 instead of D class. You get to take out weight( gtc1 weight 2425) , get to run slicks and run against all the same cars.Berlack has made the change and loves it.Come join us!!!

Thanks for the offer Geoffrey, the only problem is that shipping an unregistered 964 Trophy/Cup across the pond then hiring a tow car and trailer for a week is probably not going to be very cost effective for the averagely poor Brit, much as I would love to take you up on your offer though.

And before you suggest it, no, I wouldn't leave it at your place for "safe keeping" just to save the shipping costs for the following year.......
