It would be really cool if you could add an alarm clock feature that lit up all the warning lights and used the door/seat-belt buzzer (964-635-401-00) for an audible alarm...

Jason,
Do you have a pic of that part - how large is it?

The speaker for the, "oh sh*t something expensive is about to break" warning buzzer is real small.

Garrett's photo of the warning buzzer

but unfortunately it is attached to the central informer which also doubles as the, "machine that goes ping". There might also be relay involved I've just never had a reason to go digging so I'm not really sure.

Jason,
If you find out more info on the buzzer, let me know. The item by itself could easily be incorporated into the side of the clock housing. Making it functional is the puzzle.

Andreas,

I'm sure you can source out some cheap, metal embossing numbers and then hammer it into the underside.

Here's a start: http://www.argontool.com/ecatalog/frames/default.asp

All this time I thought that was the air intake for the little CCU fan to regulate the inside tempature. I never heard the buzzer for the big !

Mark,
I actually searched for some sort of branding iron with interchangeable numbers. Each possibility I found was way too expensive for the limited use I needed. In the end I found a Dremel electric engraver. It works, but it's impossible to form perfect numbers with the varying hardness of the wood grain.

The small impact stamp shown on that site may have worked well though.

Pete,
It's certainly possible - if I make another batch. It's as easy as soldering a continuous wire to each of the warning light pins - and tying that in to a separate light switch.

Ah, no wonder it looks so crisp.
I have a heated "iron" that I use to brand my work for posterity and it never comes out that sharp.
Hmm... laser engraving.. new tool?....

Mark,
I'm all for new tool purchases, but a laser engraver? The clocks would need to fetch $1,000 for that to happen

Andreas,

I was thinking of the hand stamp set. Might be good to mark other things...Porsche parts, laptops, daughters.
