AOW162435....I've never seen a realtor drive his clients around in a 993! That would be funny to see!

nice clock, forget this supra talk. I'd be interested in the final cost for one of those. Can you make one in a 3ft model

Keep an eye on the 993 forum. I hope to have a quote for the wood blanks by tomorrow and will post an approximate price at that point. If I remember, I'll post here and on the 911 board as well.

Pete,
I've seen the clocks this guy puts together. Typically he guts them and grafts in a standard quartz movement. I believe this one still has the VDO workings.

I like my wood housing better

UPDATE
I have made enough calls to get a feel for what the material costs will be. I am working with one company to finalize the costs for the wood blanks and have enough clocks identified to begin a batch in the next few weeks. The Porsche rocker switch, although neat, would just add another $15 or so to each clock, so I have elected to incorporate a simple push-button switch to set the time.

In order to bring this idea to life, I will need to price the clocks at around $175. This would include shipping anywhere in the US.

Please let me know if there is interest at this price point. Your responses will determine if this project is feasible.

The clocks I intend to use will come from 964s and 993s. If you specify in advance that you would like one that originally came from a 964, I will send the correct one. I will only use fully-functional clocks, so they should work fine back in the car. I do not change the functionality of the original design.

I can see the market for used clocks skyrocketing if we need one . Supply and demand

And yet another update:

I made a deposit with a company that will mill the wood blanks and sent my prototype off to them for final dimensions. If all goes well, the bases should be in production within a week or so. I designed a nifty logo that will be 'lasered' into the bottom. Each clock will be individually hand numbered

Finding enough clean and functional clock mechanisms has been a chore. A real chore. I have a number of clocks on the way from Ebay, Pelican and Rennlist sellers, and purchased a dozen from a Porsche parts seller today. Whew.

Apart from some additional hardware, i should be on the right track to fill the confirmed orders. Once those are taken care of, I will offer the remaining stock to Rennlisters and possibly the Ebay crowd.

Andreas
