Now showing up for auction on Hagerty. It is an AP Design Car and is extensively modified. Started out life as a Japanese spec Tiptronic (now has a manual swapped) ‘93 C2 without a sunroof and finished in Rubystone Red.

I guess it will show what a cosmetic cloan sells for with a real RS bringing multiple 6 figures these days.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ra-2-coupe-10/ $146,000? WTF?
I know we all like to see values go up on our cars but this is getting scary; I already drive the car less (LA traffic; anuses and certifiable anuses), since Covid and the growing ambivalence of law enforcement to police the crazies, the car only comes out now early morning weekends.
Ironic really as I bought the 964 so the wife and kids could thrash something at the track other than the 73T.

I think there is a big group of buyers on BAT that feel, or have been told, they really need a 964 and so the bidding gets hot. What they don't realize is that BAT has a pipeline of 964s waiting in the wings to come live the minute one sells; there is already a white/black car, albeit not as nice and a tip to boot, on auction. Wait. Or overpay-your call.
$146,000 and the buyer with 6 whole posts, do they get a PPI, anything like a proper report of condition or does the relationship start as the car is unloaded off the transport? Where was the buyer when I was selling bridges over the mighty Los Angeles River (think of all the tolls!).
While we are on the subject of who pissed in my cornflakes; the Amethyst Turbo that sold 10/22 for $401K, sold today for......$401K. I don't get it. And I don't like not getting it, doesn't remind me of...Victory.

Don't forget the auction fee!
The Carrera 2 market is definitely not cooling down. 964's definitely have caught a worldwide audience and have been more or less accepted as THE classic 911 to have. Very exciting to see how popular 964's have become. People buying them to completely restore them now and doing some amazing builds through companies such as AP Design.

I actually see the Amethyst turbo as a sign the market is still strong for unique cars. How many exist in this color? Less than a handful worldwide no doubt. The TMU and interior exterior combo would bother many but no doubt not some. I still have standing offers for far more for mine and I don't see the 3.6T market cooling off. So few to choose from and most are run of themill or have skeletons. The fact it sold for the same price as 6 months ago was surprising if the market cooled it would have dropped but it sold for the same price as before. IMO this car is not worth any more as it isn't a collector grade with its history and ??? So a truly nice 3.6T should see more.
I am curious what my amazon 93 C2 with 62k miles originally optioned with Cup I's, LSD cruise etc would sell for today if I didn't chop it up and remove the sunroof. I suspect it's value went down and not up but I don't care just curious.

@cobalt i read your comment on the BaT listing. I wouldn't say you ripped it. You pointed out a few things pretty fairly. The car has had 2 rear enders, that will do more to the pricing than swapping a few parts like I/C hoses.
I suppose, it's always good to remember that there are people behind these cars and that - in most cases - they do the best they can based on their experience with the car, what other people tell them, and with the time and money they have.

I feel like in the current market I got a great deal on my 92 C2. Granted its a common color but I paid substantially less than that 90 C2 from BaT this weekend and my car is close in milage but no sport seats or LSD.
