^^^ Thank you Sooner, I agree with your points; in the Longhood world the question is how MANY times the odo has been around the block, and who cares? Granted a 911s or rs will always need provenence to fetch top dollar but there are lots of guys buing rotiserrie restos too, just not quite at the same price.
So the 964 has been "discovered" as the best of the aircooled, so the plan is to get a low mile car and park it? Makes no sense.
And if it was done properly, not an easy feat, I would rather have a repainted car than one that looks like it has been through the wars.
But I drive 'em, so what do I know.

Trust me I enjoy my resprayed cars more than my original paint. They are only original once and keeping them that way is a chore.

There are a number of investors looking for originality, low miles, unique colors and of course PTS. It seems the market has changed and we could be seeing what happened when CFL's and LED's came to market and people started hoarding incandescent bulbs. In all honesty if the new EV's are CFL's I would be hoarding them as well but if an LED comes out we might all be dumping these one day. Who know?

There are plenty of people who can spend $100k on car and not blink an eye so a well sorted car that looks good can be appealing, especially if they aren't concerned with collecting and just want to experience one.

I have supple in my turbo and my 928 GTS and wouldn't trade it for the standard leather.
Correct. The car has Sold. This was my car two days ago. I obviously agree the market is strong for original cars and maybe with 200-500 miles a year a couple years down the road it will be worth more. Maybe less. I will say I had no intention of selling it 1 month ago but then I found something else.

your 964 was a very nice car in a great color. i'm curious if you got somewhere near the $170k you were asking. mine has 27k miles, sport seats, LSD, and is black/black. just curious.

btw, congrats on the sale. is the 993 the replacement or is there something else?

31k-mile ROW RS Touring finished in Maritime Blue on BAT at no reserve. Only 76 964 RS Touring’s were made.

WOW just WOW. Jim's work is always impressive and the touring IMO is the one to have in a perfect color combo. I suspect this will bring some serious coin.

Hey all, I'm considering selling my 964, and I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out a fair value, since they seem to be all over the place. I was hoping I could perhaps get some opinions on from those more in the know.

A rundown:
1990 964 C2
• Manual Transmission
• Guards Red with Black Interior
• Around 165K Kms (equivalent to about 100K miles)
• Canadian car (located in Calgary, AB)
• Accident-free Carfax history
• Sport seats, Club Sport rims, Sunroof, new Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires
• I’ve owned this car since 2014 (bought from a local PCA member). I have detailed maintenance/service records dating back 13 years (8 of them were mine), as well as stamped maintenance books dating back to the beginning of it’s life.

Overall, I think this car is in excellent Driver condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, and has had extensive maintenance done under my ownership. It is not a concourse car, but still presents and drives really well. My best guesses at condition:
• Mechanical is a 9. I've spent a good chunk of change making sure it drive as it should. Very recent engine-out reseal and valve adjustment, along with spark plugs, starter, oil cooler lines etc. Engine was also rebuilt about 20K KM (12K miles) ago by a previous owner.
• Exterior is an 7/8. The paint is in great shape, and as far as I’m aware, all/mostly original. Cosmetically there are a couple of blemishes/nicks, and there are some smaller scrapes on the front bumper, but nothing unexpected for a 30+ year old car. There is no rust. I need to address a couple of items still (faded taillights, some lose trim around the sharkfin)...with these items done, I would say it's a solid 8.
• Interior is a 9. Seats have no rips or tears and show little wear for their age. Small rip on sunroof headliner.

Don't have proper pics yet, just some ones I took here and there..

General thoughts on fair value?

based on your comments and recent transactions, i'm going to say something in the $80-85k range with those miles. it could be +/- $5k, but i think that's a safe assumption. some cars recently haven't met reserve, so the market is cooling some. this is where the best cars will hold and some of the others that rose due to demand will soften. others might disagree some with my assessment, we'll see.

Not the result that I had expected! This was a total loss 90 C2, but apparently backdating is like money laundering 🤣

I think that the market will speak loud and clear on this one. It checks all of the boxes for me with color, slick top, A/C, mileage, etc. All of things I would love yet not going to step up, because A. just bought a house and B. happy with my C2. I'll watch with interest.

36K mile GR RSA, looks like it’s had a front end repaint based on paint meter readings. Not an issue by itself but limited pics in the front trunk. I would want to see detailed pics of the tub area especially the inner wheel houses. Maybe I am channeling my inner @Cobalt (I have learned a great deal about my own RSA through Anthony’s enlightenment) but pics 151 and 152 tweaked my interest. Pic 151 has the factory under seal but pic 152 appears not to have factory under seal where the inner wheel house meets the strut tower (pic quality, it doesn’t seem so?). I would definitely want some more clarification on this before bidding. Lastly more speculation but it’s missing the rear storage boxes, why remove? Maybe to install a cage? I am not saying this car is under represented but a lot of RSA’s were used as intended but now a days no one wants to hear about “track time” on a RS which is sad.

I think an imperfect RSA is the perfect RSA. 140k miles and counting.
