Like to see your cars one of these days. Now I noticed a water leak in the left rear of the TT so need to put it up on the lift. Hope its just a lose hose clamp. Its very slow.
I could not find it locally... had to order it from here:

When are you going to put the rack back in? I would like to come watch/help? if you are doing it on the weekend. I want to see what I am getting into taking it off. How long does it take to do the rebuild now that you are a expert?

Waiting on the torsion bars for the SC so that I can install the front suspension back... once that is done, then I can get it off the lift and move the 964 over... so I am thinking that it will be mid-Feb when I get to work on the 964...

Once the rack is out, rebuilding only take a couple of hours (that includes the time to clean all the parts so that it looks good, hehehehe). Remember to order the crush copper seals (Copper Sealing Ring, D12 x 15.5/16) for the lines and the plastic plug (Part No. 477-419-115)... those items are not included in the seal kit.

I did the whole thing over a weekend...but was taking a lot of breaks due to family commitments...

On second thought... just order the seals... I need to order a few things from Pelican today and will get additional copper seals and plugs.

Sounds great Jaime. I need to find a how to on getting it out. I will order the kit tomorrow. let me know the cost on the washers. i need to change my valve cover gaskets also. Just got the gaskets last week. may do that and the oil saturday depending on how cold it gets. After that I need to get the TT on the lift and see what the slow leak is on it. Might be the coolant tank.

Left rear? Yeah...coolant tank. Known issue with the 996TT. . I had a spare tank for when mine would start doing the same... Gave it to the next owner when he got the car. I can check if he still has it, he no longer has the 996TT, he recently bought a 997TT.

On removing the steering rack. The only step that is a pita is removing the bolts that hold the hydraulic lines....access is limited. Then there is the bolt in the footwell, behind the pedals... The rest is pretty straight forward.

Just go back and review page 22 of this thread... I documented what I did. I will add more details this time around...

Cool! All the parts arrive Wednesday... but I am still waiting on ETA for the '81 torsion bars... that is what is keeping the SC on the lift... need that to install it, put the wheels back on it and roll it out.

I still have to wait for the revised fork, needle bearings and a few other things that are a bit delayed... but the critical part is here!! And shifts smoothly with just my hand...

I will change the fluid and start getting it ready for the weekend (if those parts come in...)

Got the old 3.0 engine, from the RSR project (we installed a 3.2 with PMOs on that one), off the lift cart and on the engine stand... lift table now free for using with the 964.

All the time my friend... all the time...

I try to man up and tell her to walk away and leave me alone... that this is my only space in the house...my man cave... manly ground... even that does not work.
