I am not sure what will happen with the shelf. My original thought was to remove it all together with the rear seats. Again mainly for weight loss, but the rear seats are not that heavy and I haven't found an adequate replacement speaker or sound system for the rears, so while not the greatest sound tubes, I am hesitant to remove before I find a replacement. That is stage 2 anyway, which isn't scheduled until after the summer.

I am doing the same to my C2. I have decided to recover the rear shelf using factory material so it looks stock. Initially I was going to remove the seats but I use them to store things when I travel. I had a rear parcel shelf from a 93 RSA and I sold it now regretting it but it did weigh more than the seats.

i had a '93 with the compartments, but never compared it's weight to the seats. considering the upper shelf, the partition, and the doors, it's incredibly odd that the 'weight saving' RSA would have a heavier option over the seats. i guess they learned their lesson and the GT3s starting coming with nothing in the back.

Exciting! I'm hoping to head over next week, I hope they don't finish your car before then.

The plan was to DRIVE it back, but in the time of COVID I will have to settle for hiring a transport. I am currently trying to source some contacts and quotes.

I was a bit concerned when you first started this but the end result is incredible and the shop is top notch. Drive it in good health.

Thank you all for the positive feedback. It has been a really good journey. Still lots to go.

Here is little piece done by the shop tonight, and gives you an idea on how varied their Porsche pedigree is

After so many months, the car is seeing some actual sunshine. So close...

That looks so good! Wow what a result and it’s not even finished yet.

Can’t wait to see all the glass/trim installed and the finishing touches.
