I have Pole Positions, 6' 1", 36" waist and 200 lbs and feel they are reasonably comfortable depending on how you position them and if you fit, I've driven 300 miles to California and back several times with no back issues.
The ideal seat IMO is the Speedster seats since they look the part but are suspension shells with a trampoline in the bottom so they are a little more compliant. Almost a combo of a sport seat and racing shell.

^ I just spent 4-5 hours in a factory recaro a few months ago racing around San Diego mountains. I am 5' 8" 195lbs and broad shouldered. it was a perfect fit and the support to your body was one of best from that era.
If you are doing it to keep the car period correct then its a no brainer.. Otherwise, its like outfitting your wife in a YSL dress and pairing it with Payless Shoes.

As an FYI, Recaro made the Porsche RS/Speedster seats for Porsche as the OEM manufacturer and supplier. There is zero difference between Pole Positions and the RS/Speedster seats. Recaro is recognized worldwide for making the best racing seats that money can buy. Not at all like what you’re implying.

and have high side bolsters. Size 38 waist and 44 jacket size is about the maximum. If you’re bigger, it’s best to go with the XL SPG seats.

You are missing the point. Buying OEM supplier Recaro seats is NOT “cheaping out”. They are the exact same seats, made by the exact same manufacturer in the exact same factory.

Here is a post that explains some of the subtle differences. functionally, SPG is an inch narrower at the hip than the speedster/rs and the pole position is an inch wider at the hip. There are a bunch of other details which could be considered cosmetic...
No denying that the PP are way cheaper and given that they are manufactured today, they do benefit from modern manufacturing techniques and current designs.
In my opinion, a carrera cup USA car is very special and if the money is available, making it period correct is the way to go. I don't think it is financially reckless at all because the value of making it "right" will always stay with the car.
