Good, I think I am bringing my GT4 this year. Although they are showcasing cars ending in 4 and have been asked to bring the turbo. Thank you. It was my pleasure to have such a wonderful example to toy with.

I noticed something about the rear luggage compartment on the Cup USA is not the same as the RS America besides the doors and other trim missing. The one on the Cup looks like it’s the type for cars with the larger rear side panels (like you would see on a normal Carrera or Turbo with rear seat delete) as there’s a gap in between the luggage compartment and the side wall. They did make a wider looking compartment for cars with the lightweight carpeting on the rear side wall that fitted more snugly. Only cars that I can think of that had these were the RS America and US-market 3.2 Carrera Club Sport. Also there’s a small cutout in the back corner that is on a Carrera or Turbo luggage compartment, but not on an RSA. A bit of a nerdy observation on a rather useless piece in these cars.

Most definitely a nerdy observation, but that's why we love this forum. Keen eyes my friend!!

Any of the luggage dumps are heavier than the seats they replaced.
My bet is that the USA Cup came with the same part that the 3.2 Carrera Clubsport did and the difference in fit is due to the change in the interior body paneling of the 964 tub.

Think it is probably from a Carrera/Turbo as it has a cutout at the back. The piece of trim that goes in there is missing on the Cup’s leaving the carpet edges exposed. The RSA didn’t go into production until early or mid 1992 and the Cup’s were produced late 1991. Assume the RSA luggage compartment wasn’t available at that time and the only ones they had were for the Carrera or Turbo. Kinda a useless piece of information, but some cars are starting to restore these cars and thought it might be helpful. Although pretty much no concourse judge would be able to spot if you used an RSA compartment rather than a Carrera/Turbo one.
It is interesting that for the US market all rear seat delete cars had to have a luggage compartment to stop people from sitting back there. A RoW 964 RS or 3.2 Club Sport don’t have rear luggage compartments unlike their US counterparts. Assume how the laws work in the US it would Porsche open to civil suits if someone was injured while sitting in the back. Think they covered themselves later on with the 996 by fitting a warning sticker to the back of the front seats. Almost defeats the point if the compartment weighs more than the rear seats they replace.

All very interesting and uniquely informative. Only a handful of folks would, or could ever discover this. It's always a pleasure to follow this forum. Thanks John!

Came across this photo of #602 dusty on the back of a tow truck in Hong Kong. Believe it was taken in 2014. #602 was one of the 7 confirmed reconversions done by Andial. Though this and #580 would technically not be reconversions as they started off as unconverted “port” cars. Only real difference between these two and the five others think would be the paint on the hood being original. Though #580 has history racing at the Daytona 24 hours and Sebring 12 hours. #602 was supposedly unused and showed only 169 miles on the odometer in 2014! Heard it was left in a will by the original owner to someone who in turn sold it to this person in Hong Kong.

I saw this post online of someone who had removed the carpeting from their Cup and on rear piece it was chalk marked by the factory USA.
