Real cup car or fake?

Since were on the subject, a couple sources quote 120 cars built. Is there a solid source for the 44+1 number?
EDIT: "The wide range of the serial numbers for the Carrera Cup USA cars is because they were built non-consecutively on the production line and thus have serial numbers ranging between 0392 and 0602, inclusively. Serial number 0392 was a pre-production car. Production really began in earnest with serial number 0509 so, during the actual period of production, approximately every other car on the production line between 0509 and 0602 was a Carrera Cup USA car."

Ahh indeed! Is there a decent write up of the differences somewhere I could peruse?

Series was cancelled so red one never saw duty as an official pace car. Most of the cars that saw track duty were used club racers, mine ran a few IMSA races but there was not a good class for car at the time.

If anyone had an opportunity to read the ad before it disappeared, can you please list detail?
Location of car?
Condition of car (original, modified, etc.)?
Asking price of car?
