Default MM vs inch

Seeing as though Porsche is a German car and everything is in mm,

Do you think it's wrong or right working in inches on these cars?

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG! As an Australian now living in Tennessee I still have not adapted to this archaic system. For some components (eg. coil spring diameters, wheel sizes) it makes sense but for everything else metric should be the standard.

Working for a German company... everything I do now is in mm.

Except when I work on my Chevy, SAE or bust.

An arbitrary systerm of measure is an arbitrary system of measure. I use both equally.

I find the metric system so much easier to use. I can generally look at a fastener and have a good idea of what it is in mm...screw that in inches...I don't even know the order of SAE sizes...

I'm still adapting to the metric system. I use both.

For example, I know my pistons are 4.155 and have .006 clearance.

I know my rods are 150mm. I know my bearing clearance is .002

I just can't get into the clearances being in mm.

Only three countries have not adopted the metric system as standard.

Liberia
Myanmar
United States of America

Sums it up for me. I will say that month day year makes some things easier to sort but that is outweighed by the abomination that is Fahrenheit.

Grew up in Canada with the Imperial system (inches, gallons, etc.); got used to metric when Canada changed over and when I moved from North American cars to foreign ones; but still cannot figure how come the USA has their own gallon which is smaller than an Imperial gallon that the rest of the world used.
