WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG! As an Australian now living in Tennessee I still have not adapted to this archaic system. For some components (eg. coil spring diameters, wheel sizes) it makes sense but for everything else metric should be the standard.

I find the metric system so much easier to use. I can generally look at a fastener and have a good idea of what it is in mm...screw that in inches...I don't even know the order of SAE sizes...

I'm still adapting to the metric system. I use both.
For example, I know my pistons are 4.155 and have .006 clearance.
I know my rods are 150mm. I know my bearing clearance is .002
I just can't get into the clearances being in mm.

Grew up in Canada with the Imperial system (inches, gallons, etc.); got used to metric when Canada changed over and when I moved from North American cars to foreign ones; but still cannot figure how come the USA has their own gallon which is smaller than an Imperial gallon that the rest of the world used.
