Default Timing belt slipped bent valves.

My timing belt slipped
When I turned the car on I realised I didn't tighten the auto tensioner. Turned it off and heard a few little knocks. (Sounds like no oil in ledger knock) It turns over but there no compression. Car won't start.

Bent my valves...

How hard is this to fix? it happend at very low rpm

What am i in for?

You're having a bad day....

I would guess your pistons would be OK based on low speed event. You may be lucky and just be up for replacement valves. You won't know for sure until you remove the head.

I think one may be stuck in a guide.

I'm just not sure what valves i have as is a custom head.
Or make some custom valve guides and get valves to suit. I'm assuing probably ferrea valves.

Pauly: Indeed a bad day. However, both Ferrea and SI valves are easily sourced for our stock guide diameter. I used SI super alloy/Inconel valves with Ferrea 140# springs when I did my head several years ago. Pistons will be fine, just clean up any marks with a Dremel and you will be good to go. Good luck, Mike

How easy are guides to locate?

I've read about the valves. Just need to give mine a measure as they're not stock.

My exhaust valves don't look stock either. Are they any different?

Do you think springs will need to be replaces? i have titanium retainers too.

Don't rely on the auto-tensioner...it's a piece of junk.

Set the tension manually and lock it down tight for the next belt.

Springs should be OK most likely.
Guides are about $5/ea on Pelican.

Sorry about all that.... Have you actually checked the compression or looked into ports to see stuck valves? It would be a little unusual to do that much damage just starting the motor -- or at least I should say there have been other guys who've done less damage on more driving/revs. I guess bigger valves would increase the interference and potential for harm though...

I just spoke to dave, I will pull the head to see the damage.

but no compression. engine just spins. i've looked in the intake ports too to conferm that they're bent.

Ouch. So is this related to the oil pressure event? Did the key shear? Or were you starting it after re-torquing?

If I recall, wasn't that a JME head from Dave at CEP?
