Through all these years I have dedicated a serious amount of time to the passion of the 951. One of the issues that have constantly bothered me is the fact that at the pinnacle of it’s development the 924/944/968 line the 968 Turbo S, handled better than the 911T and the flagship 928GTS, I will not be bothering with the 928 since it was never raced from factory, actually it was more like the Panamera of today or even the cayenne. But facts to facts the 951 was a better car than the 911, it was raced by the factory and the 944 line saved Porsche from a certain doom Dr. Porsche like the VW design (no offense intended) So thousand of dollars were put into convincing future generations that the rear engine design was superior than the front water cooled 951, let me pause here and hahahhahahhahahhaha and more hahahahhaaahaa what a joke. Just to give you guys a neutral perspective check this article. I believe it was posted 10 years ago and I couldn’t find it in the archives, I present to you by Automobile magazine “A tale of two Turbos”

Wow, I had never seen this article. Amazing the amount of column-inches spent trying to reconcile the 911. I always appreciated Automobile magazine, but Jean Iminamoode is a sad replacement for DED. Either way, it's a classic example of editorial butt-kissing.
I couldn't see what the issue date was for this article, or the actual model years of either of the vehicles; which would be nice to know.

Porsche did race the 928... A little bit more research would have uncovered that in the early 1980s a factory backed 928S held the VLN lap record at the Nurburgring. The car won 4 out of the 6 races that it entered. That very same car was also raced by Brumos at Daytona. In 1987 a 928 finished 7th overall in the 24hrs of Nurburgring. The car had unofficial factory backing again.
Now that I have driven RWD Golf, I too agree with you that Porsche detuned both the 944Turbo and 928GTS. The reasons were obvious - you cannot have the cheaper models beat the flagship.

USA got shafted on 930's...my dad's old Canadian/Euro spec, stock '84 930 vs. either of my old lightly modded 951's, no comparison in straight-line speed-930 pulls away everytime....that said the 951 is definitely the more modern car especially in the HVAC and electrics systems. Stock-for-stock the 911/930 is much more of a sports car while the 951 is more of a 'GT'. 951 is the easier car to drive fast, 930 is the better driver's car(easier to rotate, better feel on all controls, minus the long shifter on 930). Both make EXCELLENT track cars...951 is a better everyday car in the sense of utility/room, HVAC, NVH, fuel economy; although IMO goes through more parts/maintenance and is harder to work on(and I've worked on MANY Porsche's lol).
Very different cars, both great!

Well, have you been in a (pre-964/993) 911 and tried the A/C? ![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
If 50/50 'balance' is all that matters, get a $1000 RWD Volvo or BMW
